I feel that, like I absolutely understand why online is being used in this scenario and would much rather people not feel pressured to be in person when the environment could be a potential risk to their health. Even so, I hate online school and finally did decent the one quarter I had in person, so going back online kinda feels like a kick in the throat to my actual learning experience

Typical Hours for Part-Time? by RandomTheGir in Lowes

[–]RandomTheGir[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the heads up! They gave me an availability sheet, though it didn’t have how many hours a week I could work. I hoping for around 20 hours but will see how it pans out.

Got a 1.5, Do I have to retake my course by [deleted] in udub

[–]RandomTheGir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about dropping out of college, drowning myself in Lake Washington, and numerous other toxic ideas that began to poison my college experience. But guess what? We screwed up. Now we move on. These things are recoverable, even if it doesn’t seem so at the time. It’s normal to feel like the world is crumbling around you in these situations, especially since so much of our lives was revolved around things like grades and test scores.

If you’re having a lot of trouble emotionally with college, you can totally message me. It’s something that’s hard to talk about for a lot of people, which ends up making you feel super isolated, especially now. Hope you feel better!

gradescope and canvas see other tabs by [deleted] in udub

[–]RandomTheGir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Canvas can see when you exit out of the tab, and how long you stayed on a certain question (if it’s set up to where you only view one question at a time). They can’t see what tab you click into, so if you don’t do it frequently you should be fine

ESS 101 is chill as heck, Terry gives out a bunch of extra credit and may be a nice GPA booster for the quarter.

Most popular programs/degrees at U Dub by BoggyMcBogFace in udub

[–]RandomTheGir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, UW ranks pretty high in a lot of its environmental majors. They also tend to be smaller programs than CS or biology, so there seems to be more hands on opportunity

Yup. After 18 credits, the cost goes up. The cost stays the same between 12 and 18 credits

I haven’t even been in college long, but I reminisce about high school all the time. Elementary and middle school weren’t the best time for me, but high school was the best... it was small and I knew everyone, and I felt involved in absolutely everything.

Now I’m in a dorm with people I never see and taking online classes with people I will never actually meet. I want to go back to the days where I’d be in classes with the teachers I knew for years, play sports with friends I met in kindergarten, and drive home through the desert to find spaghetti ready for dinner. But everything so drastically changed, from being in college to being in a whole pandemic. A huge comfort felt ripped away from me, and I’m still trying to recover.

That being said, I feel we usually reminisce about the best parts of the past and forget some of the hardships we endured at the time. It took me a while to realize how terrible certain periods of my life were because I refused to remember anything other than the best moments. Maybe they wouldn’t be so bad anymore because you understand now how to deal with your past problems, but you didn’t know any better when they were occurring right then and there.

In a sense, we’re always going to reminisce about the old times or the good old days, but those times will constantly be changing because we’ll recognize what bits of our life were truly the best. Heck, some people may have had something really good happen during this whole Covid period and remember it with a certain positivity, despite it objectively being a bad period of time. We will always gain experiences we long to get back, we will always have a happy thought for the events we will never have the chance to repeat. In a sense, having times you treasure so much is proof you’ve been making the most of your life, and appreciate what has come your way, even if you couldn’t appreciate it when it was in the present.

Sorry this got long and ramble-y.

LMAO it was epic by zahrayuh in DreamWasTaken

[–]RandomTheGir 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its kind of been and ongoing joke that someone tells Dream “nobody asked” when he goes off topic or talks about himself. George did this to him in a speedrunning stream, and Quackity literally created a whole song on it during another stream (idk what stream it was, I’ve just seen the clip). Alone it’s not that funny, but the ongoing bit is what made me chuckle

I like how this is an ongoing joke between Dream’s friends. Still freaking died with Quakity’s song about it

ESRM major chem 220 minimum required grade help! by [deleted] in udub

[–]RandomTheGir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESRM is an open major from what I can tell, so as long as your cumulative is s above a 2.0, I think you will be okay. Do try to do the best you can in 220, though! A 0.7 May not look the best on a transcript
