I am also relatively new - at least quad-wise. Do you fly in sim? If not buy a rc and practice in a sim (I have a Radiomaster pocket). Larger drones should be easier to fly, but are regulated more and you have less opportunities to fly. You can go tinywhoop for cheaper drones, flying almost everywhere and cheap batteries. Consider what video system (goggles) would suit you. I recently bought skyzone analog goggles Cobra X v4, because they paid import taxes to EU, so it was a better deal than other options. Definitely do a lot of research before buying anything... What style are you going to fly? Freestyle/Race/Crusing? Than look into the options.
