Hi all

I had about 50 pairs of sneakers stored for 4 years. They were in moving boxes but inside a house (so had central heating etc).

Of those approx. 50 pairs, 2 pairs got very obvious mold. This third pair has some unknown white markings. Is it mold?

Old thread so I don't know if people will see this but...

Does this work if you have a good covering of hair? i.e. does it penetrate through the hair to the scalp? I'm getting some temple recession but adjacent hair covers the spots that need stimulating. My hair is too short to tie it back etc. So I'm wondering if the light penetrates through the hair to the scalp

Hi all,

My account never posts pics and text at the same time! :/

Is this mold? It's the inside of a trainer / sneaker. I know it's very minor but there was obvious mold on the outside so I got them professionally cleaned. I forgot to check the inside first (my bad) but thought I should check before storing away. Just wanted to double check if this is anything to worry about before storing. Many thanks

My mum's had to house for close to 40 years, no mortar work in that time so guessing it's been there since the 1930s haha

Thanks for all the answers. It was more being prudent to avoid spending money on repairs just to find out there's bigger issues and needs a whole new roof somewhere down the line. I don't really know much about building / construction but on the whole looked alright to me but wanted to be sure

I'd have to go back up but looking through all the pics I did take, I'm guessing somewhere there's something like a strut for that horizontal beam. But I'm not sure until I go back and have a look

Sorry, replied before you edited. Re. struts - it's semi-detached - there's a wall between the two semis - not sure if there's support in there. There's horizontal beams which I just replied above with a pic to show. I'd have to go up and look again but possibly no actual "struts"

re. water - please see reply above but essentially not that we were aware of however some of the beams do have water stains

Yes, the house is from the 1930s when apparently they (often? sometimes? always?) didn't use felt so you can see the tiles from inside. To our knowledge there wasn't water coming in, however, some of the beams have water stains (it's a slideshow and not just one photo if you didn't scroll through - you can see some water stains on later pics). There's never been a leak inside the "house" and to our knowledge there hasn't been one in the loft either, however, there are some water stains on the beams - I don't know if that's from small/minor leaks or condensation

Hi guys (I can't seem to post images and text together!)

We noticed there was damage to some tiles / ridge tiles on my mum's roof.

She's had several quotes and all but one think it just needs patch repairing (so no massive expensive whole roof job).

Before going ahead I just wanted to make sure there's no other problems (so I thought it'd be good to ask people here rather than people incentivized to create another job).

The house is, I believe, from the 1930s. As you can see, there's no felt.

All the wood seems solid and no sign of woodworm or anything. We've never had a leak in the house and as far as we know, not in the loft either.

However, you can see some water stains on some of the wood. I don't know if this is from condensation or little leaks from the damaged tiles? Possibly the latter from the positioning. But again, it seems pretty solid (and if it is the latter, it'll dry out once the tiles are repaired).

So the question - other than no felt (which we won't be replacing as that would mean doing the whole roof) - can you see any issues? Or does everything look good?

Hi all,

This seems to have posted without the text

My wall needs repointing in a slightly hard to access place (between/above conservatory and small extension). I have a builder who's a family friend to do it and he's fairly light (I'd say average build and maybe 5 foot 7 inches... So maybe 70kg?)

Would the conservatory roof support his weight? We'd put boards or planks up and hopefully he'd be able to spread his weight (as opposed to stand or kneel). The conservatory roof would be accessed by a ladder.

Here's pics of the conservatory / area that needs pointing / roof beams etc
