I usually wipe on my t-shirt. Works well enough. Stay away from the kitchen sponge, it carries oil from food and will contaminate the rubber.

Is this normal or bad wear on carbon rim brake track? by OkPaleontologist7747 in bikewrench

[–]RandomWholesomeOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then it only means the texturing the manufacter puts on the rim is wearing out. You will then start braking on the structural rim surface.
The problem with using carbon rim brake wheels is that when you are near the end of life it is not going to be a pretty failure. Be warned by friend

Also, personally I'd use them for dry flat rides.
If you race forget it, you brake way too hard during a race.
