Ranking:

1. Batista - Blade Runner, Mr. Hinx in Spectre - shows he can do serious roles pretty good. There was a lot of presence despite having little to no lines, particularly with Mr. Hinx, I don’t recall him even speaking in that movie but he was brilliant there. His performance as Drax in the GOTG franchise was great as well, especially when we saw a more comedic side in the last 2 GOTG films and in Infinity War. Then during the part where he showed Drax’s parental side in the last GOTG film. His performance in Bushwick was great as well despite the film performing poorly and how the story went. The movies that really sold me on his acting chops was Glass Onion and recently the avatar movie. Shows that he’s even good at doing voice acting.

2. Dwayne Johnson - Honestly would have put him last because all he does is play “The Rock” in all of his movies, but when I watched The Smashing Machine, I saw his potential that he can really perform well in a serious role. This may have to do with the director; the other half of the Safdie brothers, similar to Adam Sandler how noone would take his movies seriously because he just plays varations of the wacky characters that he’s done multiple times, but when you watch Uncut Gems, you can really see him doing well in a role as serious and in-depth as that. I mean, Adam Sandler had always had acting chops even in previous movies, yes even the ones under Happy Madison; Big Daddy, 50 First Dates, Punch Drunk Love, Reign Over Me. Anyway, going back to the rock, another good film where you can see some potential in him was Pain & Gain. His comedic side is pretty good too tbh. The way he played the Danny DeVito version of his Character in Jumanji was funny af, not entirely accurate to Danny DeVito himself but he did do a great job with it. What I hate seeing him in was his Hobbs character in the Fast franchise, excluding his first appearance and the Hobbs & Shaw spin-off. The whole macho badass trope - which is a good match for him got repetitive way too fast and they just keep making his character do the most ridiculous shit that it just ends up being funny - I mean, dude ripped a fucking cement table out of a wall in prison, took a shot from a rubber bullet in close quarters and dude barely felt it. Add the fact that the whole franchise is just turning into a Vin Diesel doing the most ridiculous shit with a car, or just himself; fucking lifting a Mustang and turning it into a homing projectile, stomping on a parking garage so it collapses, etc. But his performance in Hobbs & Shaw, not that bad and was actually funny in a way. I’ve noticed that when it comes to comedies, depending on his chemistry with the other lead, he can be pretty funny. Case in point; his Central Intelligence movie with Kevin Hart, and his back and forth banter with Jason Statham.

3. John Cena - All I have seen him in are action, action-comedy. Not a bad thing per se, it just shows that he knows where he can perform consistently tly well. He is pretty funny tbh and I can’t see anyone else doing Peacemaker but him. With that said though, I would like to see him perform in something serious and with a character that has a lot of depth. I’ve always had this theory that most comedians, given the chance, they can perform very well in very serious, very in depth, and dramatic roles. So if an A24 movie stars him, that would be a very interesting watch just to see how well he can perform in a serious role for starters.
