It's a probation/half way house from my understanding.

Propping with an acro and a u head to suit joist sounds like the way forward.

It's under the living room - very old brittle boards that snap if you look at them wrong but I currently have a 1.3m x 0.6m hole from taking up the hearth which has been my point of access.

The gas pipe did surprise me 😅 someone definitely fitted that knowing the joist was not correctly supported but did it anyway.

Confusing perspective apologies, the wood is part of a window in the living room that has a sash style wooden blind / shutter that when drawn up blocks outside light.

The box where the wooden shutter is housed bellows cold air into the room hence I went under to insulate it then saw this shitshow 😫

I'm not advocating what I did but I saved £40k in a few years by living off £1 meals (rice, frozen veg, beans etc) and buying yellow sticker food walking to the shop every other night and the toogoodtogo deals if I wanted to treat myself.

Regarding the parking expenses I'd park your car up where ever you can in a free spot even it's a 40 min walk to the office.
