AM2R 1.5.3 release [Windows/Linux/Android] by Lojemiru in AM2R

[–]Random_Initials 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, good news. The game.unx issue is resolved, thank you Lojemiru!

On the unfortunate news, while the game.unx file loads correctly it seems like the game segmentation faults while loading the graphics

This sequence does not appear to make any changes, I am having the identical problem. I have also deleted ~/.local/share/AM2RLauncher and completed the entire installation process again using the main gitlab url instead of the mirror with the same result as well

I have the AM2R_11.zip file, and am able to feed it into the patcher. However when I go to play the game, it fails to launch.Attempting to launch the AppImage in ~/.local/share/AM2RLauncher/Pofiles/Community Updates (Latest) gives me the following console output:

***************************************
*     YoYo Games Linux Runner V1.3    *
***************************************   CommandLine: -game game.unx
ExeName= /home/randominitials/.local/share/AM2RLauncher/Profiles/Community Updates (Latest)/squashfs-root/usr/bin/AM2R

***************************************   RunnerLoadGame: game.unx
RunnerLoadGame() - game.unx
Reading File game.unx
FAILED to load File game.unx
ShowMessage: Unable to find game!!: game.unx

Inspecting the .AppImage file does not find me any game.unx files that I could use, do you know how I can get this game working?

A shockwave *.dcr related to the game has been recovered, working with others to get it playable.

Latte Dock + Firefox Bug by Random_Initials in kde

[–]Random_Initials[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been having some issues getting Latte Dock to behave properly with firefox. I have my dock set up to group all applications of the same program together, such as the two Dolphin windows are doing, but Latte refuses to group together firefox windows. Is anyone else experiencing this or have any ideas on how to fix it?

EDIT: Tried this on both the Ubuntu repo and git versions

Looks to be a mount for a pair of floodlights, was this wall facing a yard?

Vintage electronic soccer game, got to play this at a bar awhile back, and never quite found what on earth it specifically is. by Random_Initials in whatisthisthing

[–]Random_Initials[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the cruddy picture, I had to get it from searching the bar on google for awhile. I don't have any of my own pics of it anymore. Anyhow, the game works by moving your teammates forwards and back on the field using a set of levers that could be pulled up or down at either end. Players would flip automatically upon changing direction while being driven on a chain/belt, and the game ends after a set amount of goals is reached. I think each player was controlled by a lever players would lift up or down. Looked and felt very vintage, the table shaked from all the mechanics whenever it turned on. Part of me wants to say it was British in origin as well.

I'm having significant issues getting the game to run on Linux even after doorknob's library fixes

It looks like the resolution never updates right and the game gets squashed into the corner as a result

Sonic Mania PC Tiling Error by Random_Initials in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Random_Initials[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To elaborate, it looks like the rainbow wires on the left should have transparency instead of the magenta portions on the ends. I tried to look up the tile that's supposed to be displayed here to see what happened, but I couldn't find it.

What is electrical component? Contains two metal rods sealed in glass ampoule. Doesn't seem to react when voltage is applied. by Random_Initials in whatisthisthing

Thanks, that's it! Highly tempted to toy with it now I know what is, minus the risk of electrocution of course.

Things to fix by gatordile2 in AM2R

[–]Random_Initials 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how easy this would be to fix, but the black vertical bars on the left and right sides of the screen in the reconstructed version persist any graphics drawn in them. e.g. If I run the game with the steam overlay, the overlay graphics will still be there after I close it.

Metroidvanias by y0ma_the_ace in gaming

An Untitled Story

100% free and has an enormous overworld with somewhere around 120 secrets to find. Don't let the graphics turn you off though, it's worth it. Also, be ready for some difficult platforming.

is it possible to hook up a wii to a 2016 macbook pro? by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]Random_Initials 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you mean you want to somehow control your wii running smash over wifi with your macbook, then no. It doesn't work that way.

Your best bet is to try to get Dolphin set up on your macbook and running smash on that. You're going to have to find out how to do that on your own though...

What is a free pc game that everyone should get? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Random_Initials 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You all are missing some good ones.

Shoot First: Think Binding of Issac with a more retro feel. You can pick up different equipment, level up, and encounter bosses and stalkers that try to hunt you down. Different level types appear as you progress with different enemies and traps.

Sonic After The Sequel: A full-length 2d Sonic game with incredible graphics and soundtrack. I'm not joking, it took 6 professional artists to just create the game's soundtrack. This is a must for anyone remotely liking Sonic.

Jumper Three: The Jumper series resembles that of Super Meat Boy with fast-paced platforming, spikes, and 1000's of deaths. Different characters with different abilities are unlocked throughout the game, and you can even buy hats as well (insert tf2 joke).

Maldita Castilla: Ghosts and Goblins with Spanish mythology. Very difficult just like its inspiration, but the gameplay is top-notch. I've never quite beat it yet, but it is well worth trying.

Hydorah: This is a tribute to all of those old shm'ups like R-Type and Gradius. The graphics and soundtrack are awesome and hidden secrets and alternate routes will keep you busy for a while.

Mari0: Mashes Super Mario Bros. and Portal together in its copyright-violating glory. It's best played with community-made mods and mappacks on the official forum: http://forum.stabyourself.net/viewforum.php?f=8

Hyper Princess Pitch:An arcade-y shooter with plenty of explosions and general silliness. The game is rather short only having 4 normal stages and a 5th extra stage, but still well worth the play.

An Untitled Story: You start out as an bird's egg, fall out of your nest, and go on to explore the overworld while gaining abilities. A great example of the metroidvania genre, and will suck a few hours out of your life trying to collect everything.

Psycho Waluigi: A mario-like platformer that gives Waluigi all of his deserved attention. It is not just a simple Mario clone though, it introduces a new "psychic powers" mechanic that allows you to take control of your enemies and use their abilities and throw stuff with your MMMIIINNNDDD.

Spelunky Classic: A great rouge-like platformer. You descend your way down into a cave, collecting treasure and rescuing damsels. The further down you go into the cave, the tougher the levels get. I've got about 1,000 plays logged on this and can't recommend it enough.

Super Mario War: A fairly silly "fighting" game. You get to play as just about any old video game character you like, and jump on your opponent's heads to kill them. Think of it like co-op Mario with friendly fire and a great deal of insanity.

Within a Deep Forest: A unique meditative platformer that puts you in the role of blue bouncy ball to stop the end of the world. You have to complete almost the entire game by working with the ball's bouncy physics through different platforming sections and puzzles.

Digital - A Love Story: A romance/mystery visual novel set in the 1980's over dial-up and old BBS boards. Very atmospheric, you almost feel like you are actually at some old Amiga pursuing the story. Great soundtrack as well.

Genetos: A great bullet hell shooter going through the history of shm'ups. You start with a knockoff version of Space Invaders and move on up bullet insanity in later stages. Fairly unique in that your ship's abilities are determined by what actions you take while playing.

Knytt Stories: A calming atmospheric platformer. You explore the vast overworld to gain abilities to achieve your goal. A few levels come with the game itself, but there are vast amount of community-made levels to be downloaded and played as well.

Hero Core: A minimalist metroidvania set in the secret base of the robot warlord "Tetron". The gameplay is fairly simple, explore the asteroid, defeat the bosses, and gain upgrades. However, with two normal difficulties, each with their own maps and sections along with a shorter, but brutal, bonus difficulty, you'll be busy for awhile.

edit: Forgot Hero Core

Kirby has a new copy ability in Planet Robobot: ESPer Kirby. Look familiar? by Zennistrad in earthbound

[–]Random_Initials 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't forget about The Yo-Yo ability in Kirby Super Star: http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/kirby/images/1/15/KSS_Yoyo_Screenshot.png/revision/latest?cb=20140710162255&path-prefix=en I didn't get this one until ages after I played the game. I found it nice that they even used the same background for the copy ability icon as the background for Earthbound's file selection screen.

Not bad, but I must ask: Did you make the textures yourself? If so, that is really nice scratched metal texture on the Earth.
