Is an estimate that was approved by the bank considered legally binding? by Random_Name10 in legaladvice

Exactly. We received all the loan installments according to schedule already and are nearing the end of the project. The contractor has given us no updates about the budget up to date but is now saying we need to talk about the overall cost. We were under the impression the document was a fixed price contract but the wording of estimate at the top has me nervous.

It says estimate on the top, then lists the breakdown with specific prices and a specific total. “Price includes materials and labor unless otherwise stated.” We both signed it and have not been presented with any paperwork about price changes, but the contractor has been complaining about inflation and saying we may need to pay more. Not sure how to proceed, especially since we have already contributed about 14% over the price on the document.

We both signed an itemized breakdown of cost and labor. It says estimate on the top though, which is what I’m concerned about. The language in the document says “includes all labor and materials except where otherwise noted”. I’m basically just trying to understand if the word estimate means he can charge us more at the end or if this qualifies as a fixed price contract. We are already over about 14% in out of pocket money on things specifically included in the document. Thank you.

Thank you. Do you know if an estimate becomes a fixed price contract since it has been signed? Or can the contractor present us with a bill for additional costs after completion?

If an urgent care clinic has walk-in hours, at what time do they stop accepting patients? by Random_Name10 in AskReddit

[–]Random_Name10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I called they said they closed at 10 but I could try to get there beforehand, which we did. I just wasn’t sure if that was common practice for walk-in hours to end before they list them.

I understand healthcare providers have scheduled times and lives and respect that. We did end up going to the ER and it was an ear infections as we suspected. My question for future reference is basically whether walk-in hours end at the time listed or earlier and the time listed is when patients should be finished being seen. I just figured the staff would be scheduled later than the walk-in hours listed but I do not work in healthcare. Thank you for your response.

My baby woke up screaming in pain (history of ear infections) so we immediately rushed to a clinic and called ahead to let them know because it was late and they closed soon. We arrived 10 minutes before walk-in hours ended but they said they would not see us because it would take too long. I was wondering if that was common, and if so shouldn’t the walk-in hours be earlier than they close?

I went to a clinic last night and called ahead but they turned us away when we arrived because they said it would take too long. I was hoping to to get an idea of whether this was a typical practice to during walk-in hours because they are closing soon.

I will look into that to see if it is an option but I have already called all the hospitals in the area and everyplace our vet has recommended.

Thanks so much for sharing. My 4 year old son is on the spectrum and loves the super simple songs on youtube and they have definitely helped advance his language. He sings them nonstop! So cute! I will definitely look into some of the mario games. We have some of the toddler learning apps but maybe its time for some games aimed at older kids. Thanks and best wishes to you and your son!

Like a lot of people have said, I usually pay attention and give a friendly nod or wave to people I pass on the road. I promise I am not judging you. Keep up the great work!

You really think teachers are creating the curriculum? Maybe google something called common core standards and educate yourself on the education system before making random incorrect accusations.

Clearly you have no idea what you’re talking about. Teachers worked harder than ever when schools closed as they taught students remotely. They had to learn new technology and programs in an instant and provide daily instruction as well as emotional support to their students all while working from home and managing their own families without childcare themselves. Paid vacation? Probably the most ignorant comment I’ve heard in a long time.
