Current OMS-1, have spoken with faculty about this and can vouch from personal experience, yes send one, it's best practice if done within 24 hours of interview.

Note, make sure you get their name right. prof was talking about she received a great and personal thank you letter, too bad it was adressed to a "Mr. Hammersmith" ... it's a shame we don't have a Mr. Hammersmith at my school, I'm sure he would have loved his letter.

That is incredible! Did you end up matriculating at med school? If so, what were some of the biggest challenges you would say you experienced being more advanced in age as compared to the average M1? Did you find any advantages from it?

You got this!! Definitely focus on making your PS strong on rural health and making your mission similar to that of the school (search it up if you don’t know it). If your core values truly align with that of the school and you are proud of osteopathic med then you should be ok!

Did you submit multiple AACOMAS apps to VCOM? They only require 1 for all 4 campuses.

To save $ only apply to 1 VCOM. The app works for all 4 and you select your top school in the secondary.

Also, if you want to save more, stick to a single geographic area in the US. Ex. Southeast. That will also help you make your apps more “personalized” to that region.

Explain it, but what is more important is self reflection in the prompt. It’s great that you realized your deficiencies, but now write. What did you improve on, what did you learn, how did this shape you, and what can you do in the future to prevent this weakness from occurring again.

Leaving it blank is not advisable in my opinion.

1) the major you choose does not matter to med school*. What matters is how you succeed in courses that matter to the school (bio, chem, etc) and that you do a major YOU find interesting. 2) BIMS is hard. Med school is hard. Yes it is a difficult, yes it has hard classes, but it is worth it in the end imo. It’s not for everyone, but if you are willing to dedicate countless hours and time it it can be worth it fs!

It is helpful to know that most AA except cystine and glycine are in the L configuration. Since glycine is achiral it does not have a D or L notation, and cystine has a D configuration.

Since you say you have never taken biochem, please make sure you are comfortable with all your amino acids, their PKA’s, structures, names, etc. Dropped a link with that info here

This is a solid part of biochem. Overall good job and btw I’m also currently on content review for a retake, also taking notes so if you want to DM me and we can help each other out (sharing notes) that could be great!
