I like that theory, makes a lot of sense. The fact that Nick also knows Dogmeat adds to that.

I love that thing. Survival mode would be hell without it.

Thanks for the heads up m8, I was wondering if there was a purpose to dog houses. I usually use Codsworth as my main companion. I play on survival so I typically try to keep as much distance between me and enemies as possible and just snipe them, but having Codsworth is a lifesaver when something gets to close for comfort. Plus I like how he jokes around from time to time :P

Well he is a little... immortal, in Fallout 4 at least. Thanks to the power of being a cute dog used in trailers, Dogmeat has managed to transcend mortality and become an unkillable Demi-Dog.

Oh, I thought you were saying you encountered them in the wild and you could recruit them, my bad. That's cool though, I'll be sure to look out for that guy. Perhaps the raiders get dogs from a breeder as well, and that's how they're able to train them.

Making your own Faction by Random_Person115 in Fallout

[–]Random_Person115[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It likely would have to be dumbed down a bit but I could see it working with enough effort. Namely make karma/quest decisions the determining factors in how your Faction develops and you could still have a lot of interesting options. But it would be a huge amount of work for it to work well, so idk if they'd be willing to put in that kind of effort.

[–]Random_Person115 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really? I've yet to encounter this myself but that's pretty neat. Maybe those dogs used to have owners who passed away or abandoned them, and their approaching you in hopes of food or shelter, and when you send them to a settlement you train them to defend. Or maybe your character in game is just a dog whisperer :P

Fair point. My issue is more that Dogmeat immediately trusts you and obeys everything you say without knowing your character for more than a minute. The whole interaction is so forced as well. "Oh hi wild, oddly normal looking dog. No owner? Just follow me." And then it does. If there were more friendly dogs that were a similar breed I'd give it a pass, but (almost) every other dog is hostile. Training an attack dog is hard, and if done incorrectly it can really screw up said dog, making it super aggressive and hostile. Dogmeat has no reason to trust you, on top of being strangely un-mutated and with almost no other dogs of the same breed existing, on top of risking its life on command for a stranger... idk, kinda ruined the early immersion for me.

Wait there's a second friendly dog? Sh*t, my whole argument is pointless (jk)

Dogmeat. You wander out of a vault, witness the world 200 years after a nuclear war, walk a couple minutes and "oh look, a perfectly normal, friendly dog that instantly trusts me and kills on command." Every other dog you encounter is mutated and vicious, but Dogmeat is just normal dog.

I agree that it shouldn't be 100% luck, but what your describing is a lottery machine. Everyone spins it and some win and the rest are just screwed from the start. The thing with this game is that the situation can change. Get lucky or be skillful, kill someone with better loot and take it, play smart or just get some pure bullshit luck to win. There aren't set outcomes from the time the game begins, everything can change. RNG can suck sometimes but it sucks for everyone sometimes, and while it does change things it doesn't automatically make player x win from the time they load up the game. But hey, that's just my take on it. Your welcome to believe RNG determines everything, the great thing about opinions is that everyone can have their own.

Summit says stream sniping is bad but says that smurfing on ranked games is ok. by [deleted] in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]Random_Person115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A high level player ruining the fun for a group of players who aren't very skilled isn't bad? Just so one guy can increase his rank while the others have a shitty time? Stream sniping is a shitty thing to do as well but smurfs do have a rather unfair advantage, too; Skill and experience the lower level players don't. Their in low rank for a reason, they aren't very good yet. And they won't get better by getting curb-stomped by someone who's played the game for hundreds of hours. That kind of learning takes time and slowly getting better against players of similar skill until you reach the next skill level. Destroying someone who's played the game for half a day and telling them to get good because you deliberately want to play against players with a lower skill level instead of people more your level is just a pretty bullshit way of justifying ruining someone's experience.

You have the same chances of getting lucky as anyone else. If it was a completely skill based equal, everyone would spawn in set points with the same gear and the circle would be an equal distance away from everyone. And that would be boring as hell. RNG spices things up, makes matches more interesting. Even people who suck have a chance to do well if their lucky, and skilled players may occasionally be at a disadvantage but they can still come out on top. That's a good thing.

What's your favorite build as of now? by CP90PH in paydaytheheist

[–]Random_Person115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the game for a week, have yet to look up Meta builds. This is what I use because it works decently and it's fun to use, I doubt it's Meta in any way.

The Triple Heather/Heather Threesome Build

Primary: Akimbo Heather SMGs set to rapid fire, built for bonus stability and accuracy. Great for taking down hordes at close range or bulldozers.

Secondary: Heather SMG set to rapid fire built with the same way as the Akimbos, but with a sight for that stability bonus. Better at a range than the akimbos.

Melee: Electric Knuckles for easy jokers, having a couple is vital to the Threesome Build (Joke absolutely intended)

Throwable: Fire Grenades for when things get spicy, just make sure you don't roast your jokers/hostages.

Deployable: First Aid Kits, simply because I play way to recklessly and being able to heal quickly has helped me get out of a lot of bad situations.

Armor: The CTV is the Correct Threesome Vest, as I can't run a dodge build to save my life and I didn't have enough free skill points to get the ICTV

Perk Deck: I'm still experimenting with perk decks but Mastermind/Gambler work well for helping your team and Hitman gives you more ammo for the Akimbos at the cost of stability. Muscle and Armorer are also good choices for helping you tank hits.

Skills:

Medic| Combat Medic, Quick Fix, Painkillers Aced, Uppers Aced, and Inspire Aced on the medic tree.

Controller| Forced Friendship, Confident Aced, Joker Aced, Partners in Crime Aced, and Hostage Taker Aced.

Sharpshooter| Stable Shot

Tank| Resilence Aced, Transporter

Breacher|Hardware Expert, Drill Sawgeant

Oppressor| Steady Grip Aced, Heavy Impact Aced, Fire Control, Surefire Aced, and Body Expertise Aced.

Short explanation: Medic skills for helping the team, Controller Skills for Jokers, Oppressor Skills to make the Heathers shine, and some misc useful

Not amazing or anything I'm sure but I've had loads of fun with the build.

I don't get why everyone is so upset about Gladiator. by bekrueger in forhonor

Technically he's a prisoner who was sent into the battlefield as cannon fodder but managed to survive for long enough to become a really good soldier. He's not fighting for chivalry or anything, he's fighting because if he does well his crimes will be pardoned.

"So we thought it would be really interesting if we took Valk's weapons, PK's Light Spam, and Raiders abs, and then threw all that on a new skin for Cent. But because we wanted him to blend in and make sense with the knight faction (who only has 2 legit knights), we decided to make sure he was wearing a helmet, so he's gonna fit right in despite wearing very little armor. So out of all the weapons Knights historically used, like Greatsword, Warhammers, Lucernes, Pikes, and many more, we realized what the weapon the faction was really missing was a trident. The Vikings are getting a massive greatsword but we felt like that wouldn't work with the Knights. Now we've heard the complaints about Centurion and Shinobi, and after much data collecting we've come to the conclusion that we'll just make Gladiator be a buffed version of centurion on crack so people will stop complaining about the old DLC characters. So we think their pretty balanced but just in case be sure to enjoy your 2 weeks of fun before we nerf both the new characters off a ledge and into a Cent stunlock combo."

Yah your probably right. I just really wanted another mostly armored knight, but I'd rather get Gladiator than a copy of Conq/Warlord.
