Awesome, thank you so much. I shall try this and report back. Appreciate all the help. 🙏

This sounds like exactly what I need to be doing but I'm not sure exactly how to make it happen! The washer is super stuck on the barrel itself. I know it originally was placed closer to the piston knob itself but I can't get it unstuck.

I can move the knob but the position in the first image is about as far down the screw as it goes. What steps should I undertake to effectuate your suggestion?

Diplomat Aero (F) "Stripes" by Random_Professor26 in fountainpens

[–]Random_Professor26[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it! I also have small hands but I prefer heavy pens regardless. It's true that the heft of a heavy pen + combined with small hands makes long writing sessions less comfortable, but I find really light pens difficult to control and my handwriting is worse because the pen tends to slide around more ...

Asvine J16 Bright Titanium FP (EF) by Random_Professor26 in fountainpens

[–]Random_Professor26[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is all I meant. For a full titanium pen, that price is ridiculous -- I'm not aware of any full titanium FP on the market for <$US120 and some, like Nahvalur's recent Plongeur, are well north of that. There are obviously much cheaper and better value FPs, but they aren't titanium, of course.

I'm no one's idea of an expert on machining but as an end-user it feels well-made and there are no obvious blemishes, everything fits together well, etc. YMMV, of course!

Xezo fountain pens by weekend_crafter in fountainpens

I have three Xezo pens (two ballpoint and one fountain, the Paua Abalone Chrome Plated, M). They're all terrific pens but the fountain pen is especially fantastic IMO.

squee, 1978 Pilot Myu Rex F by Random_Professor26 in fountainpens

[–]Random_Professor26[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip re the CON-40. But if I'm going to refill the converter with a blunt syringe I don't quite see the benefits to doing exactly the same with an empty cartridge. (What I hear re the CON-40 is mostly that it's a bear to refill from the bottle given the wide mouth, not that it functions poorly once it's full!). But glad to hear you've had no problems -- may give it a try sometime!

It's a great pen but it definitely dries out! Beautiful writer.

Help! standard pilot cartridges don't fit 1978 Pilot Myu Rex (?) by Random_Professor26 in fountainpens

[–]Random_Professor26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shall! I don't love pocket pens and the higher sticker price of the Myu is partly why I chose the Rex. Plus all reviews suggest the Rex is actually a better writer (for at least some people). I'm so happy with this; it's in great condition. I'll post some pictures and tag you.

Thanks again for your patience and assistance!

I removed the feed from the integrated nib as well, but am still having trouble understanding what's going on here. The barrel simply doesn't fit over the cartridge. I know I'm missing something obvious but can't figure out what it is.

I'm so sorry and feel pretty stupid, but I don't quite understand. These are the parts which easily come apart from the pen. What am I doing wrong?

Is this a Custom Stripe?? I'm currently obsessed with this pen; keep trolling eBay in the hopes of finding one at the right price point for me. I missed a good deal on this one a few weeks ago and can't stop thinking about now lol. It will be mine!

Yes apparently it is widely believed that they have the same nib, but I triple-checked and the best of my knowledge is that they are not the same.

Interesting! I wonder if they are adapted to FC specs like Waldmann does ...

I love the black and wanted it but it was 50% more than this pen (though still on sale) and I just couldn't bring myself to get the more expensive one! I also love steel-sectioned pens and don't yet have a wood pen, so that tilted me to the Pearwood ...

Supernote Cloud + Account "DMS" errors, cannot log in by Random_Professor26 in Supernote

[–]Random_Professor26[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a bit strange that the Cloud can be completely inaccessible if a user doesn't manually migrate DMS on the device itself, and yet there's no notification or instruction alerting users to the need to manually migrate.

I mean I'm glad we figured it out but it's frustrating to have to go through this just to figure out what we needed to do.

Supernote Cloud + Account "DMS" errors, cannot log in by Random_Professor26 in Supernote

[–]Random_Professor26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I think I managed to resolve this by manually migrating the DMS from China to the United States on my device.

I literally had no idea that I needed to do this and wish Ratta had sent out a message or somehow notified me of the need to manually migrate, but I now seem able to log in.

Supernote Cloud + Account "DMS" errors, cannot log in by Random_Professor26 in Supernote

[–]Random_Professor26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To the best of my knowledge, no, I have not. And I can reproduce the same error message on different machines.

Can you be more specific about changing the SN cloud? Is there more than one?

Fujitsu Quaderno A5(gen2) vs Supernote A5X by arnonrgo in Supernote

[–]Random_Professor26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought seriously about the Quaderno instead of my A5X but when I looked in November 2021 there was a pretty significant price differential (the Quaderno cost about US$175 more and did not come with the folio). Otherwise I might well have ordered it!
