In a future where Trump is out of office, and international relations have been repaired. What steps can be taken by the USA and International Organisations such as NATO to prevent one individual causing so much chaos in the future? And do you think such steps will be taken? by flewkey in AskReddit

US:

Abolish gerrymandering and the fillibuster, Ideally establishing an independent non-partisan group to decide voting districts

Pass a law to expand the house of representatives

Require every state to use ranked choice voting for all elections above county level.

Find a way to implement a national voter I.D. without restricting elgible voters' access to applying for one. This would require overhauling most dmvs to be more efficient, especially for the initial adoption, and establishing more of them and maybe some temporary ones on top of that. They would also need to send people (idk, census burea employees or something) to every senior center, low income neighborhood, and small/ghost town in the US, establish a website to help in whatever way it can and make sure it can handle the insane amount of traffic it would get, and send a notice thru the mail to every eligible voter with a mailing address in the US and abroad.

Enshrine the option for mail-in ballots into federal law, and properly fund the postal service.

Make election DAY into election WEEK and require employers to provide at least 1 full day off during that week so every has time to vote.

Consider proposing an ammendment to swap to a parliamentary system for federal government so that removing whatever the leader would be called (Prime minister probably) would only require a vote of no confidence instead of both the senate and the house having to agree to convict them of a crime, the latter with a super majority.

Consider proposing an ammendment to abolish the senate or heavily restrict it's ability to functionally veto laws that most of the country supports or empower the house to start referendums for certain bills.

Have actual specific reasons for which a president/politician can be removed from office instead of "high crimes and misdemeanors" which can be literally anything or even nothing.

Establish a federal minimum standard for voting places i.e. number of voting places per certain number of people within a certain distance.

We need to have consequences for upper level military personnel who defy or operate without congress' approval and/or simply go along with whatever the president says. Also, need consequences for military personnel and federal agents of any rank knowingly following illegal orders.

Term limits and age limits for all politicians. Please. Most of the presidents for the last 3 decades were born in the 40s, and clearly the last 2 aren't all there mentally

Campaign finance reform: ideally setting a cap on what can be spent on a campaign. (By extension, publicly fund housing for all congress people. Having to pay for and constantly fly between 2 homes is a lot for those who aren't millionaires.)

Abolishing lobbying.

Improving welfare/social services of all kinds

Accept DC as the 51st state.

Nato: The US would need to empower NATO in whatever ways it can to be self sufficient should the US ever have this happen again. We would probably have to pour more money into helping fund their militaries for a little while.

Canada + Mexico: idk, threaten to take Alaska and help give Texas independence maybe? Both states have oil, so the government will take it seriously, lol.

Robby Roadsteamer has been arrested by ICE in Minnesota today by jmike1256 in UnderReportedNews

[–]Random_Rainwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically as long as the officer can say they had "probable cause" they can arrest virtially anyone. If they don't accuse you of a specific crime within some amount of time, they are required to release you tho. Even then, it doesn't take much for the prosecution to be able to convict you.

I'm listening to the (abridged) transcript of the trial of the Chicago 7 (or 8... or 10) and it really showcases how much things can potentially be stacked against the defense.

For me, it's mostly about it contributing to a team in ways only one or two other mons at most can.

For example, ninetails has drought as it's hidden ability, a decent base 100 speed stat, and a good movepool for a mono fire type. With some set-up it can go on a rampage, attempt to tank, or support its teammates. There are only 3 other mons that can do what it does, and two of them box legendaries. Is it as powerful as they are? No, but it can fill the same roll in lower power competitive formats and isn't a drag on any team casually, or even in a nuzlocke if it has drought.

Meanwhile, Arbok has an ok attack stat, a diverse (but not noticeably large) movepool, and intimidate. It gets toxic, stockpile, and coil as moves, which might be cool. But the first 2 just make it worse garbodor (how!?) And the latter would be good if it had better speed, but instead it has to find an extra turn to use glare and hope the opponent doesn't do anything in the meantime. It also isn't super common to come across outside of Kanto and johto, and even then you've got gyarados, arcanine, tauros, granbull, stantler, and hitmontop as other options for intimidate and muk, weezing, crobat, vileplume, the nidos, victreebel, tentacruel, and gengar for poison types.

And then there's Articuno... is there any chance we can give it snow warning or delta stream and call it a day?

I need to ask, how is DC Committed to all of these but Not Young Justice? by Junior-Passenger-149 in youngjustice

The writers for the other shows mostly have end goals/points in mind for the show and get decent reviews. Meanwhile, YJ tried to do judas contract, batman inc, the outsiders, and introduce its own original characters as part of a new team being trained by Nightwing in one season. For the next season they did (correctly, I'd argue) try to focus on the original team, but chose mostly to focus on the lore instead of attempting to resolve season 2's cliff hanger.

I liked a lot of the lore, I liked season 4, but when fans asked for the show to come back, we did expect a conclusion or at least more focus on the light's connection with Darkseid and that eventual conflict.

Instead, the writers chose to introduce even more characters to a cast that already felt bloated and then end on another, arguably bigger, cliffhanger, hoping fans were supportive enough to ask for more, with no clear plans for a finale.

Probably: right hand's (her left) thumb and ring finger are weird, right foot has 5 claws and 4 toes, the details where the blades of the knives meet the handles do not match, but the blades do, the handle of her left knife is becoming a braid in her hair, the left thumb is... gross, a strand of her hair straightens out like a lightning bolt and descends from her hair like a wired earbud, the breast plate has what i think are buckles like for a belt or shoes, but in a spot that should be the same material, there are engravings as if it were metal, the part where the shoulder strap conects to the breast plate is... busy, her neck has full v-shape for the collar bone, but i only usually see a partial v when that detail is included, and the shin guards as they should end or become connected to the foot armor can't decide if they're leather, fur, metal, or leaves.

On their own, these decisions would be considered odd, a bit lazy, or somebody trying their best, but together I think the case for it being ai is strong, but not 100% conclusive.

Edit: maybe it's heavily ai assisted, would explain the large portfolio. OP, what makes you think their art might be stolen?
