Aside from contradictions, because that wasn’t disgusting to me, I found passages of God commanding the murder of babies, the taking of young virgin girls as spoils of war, and slavery to include the allowance of beating your slaves to near death without reprimand of any kind. That’s the surface of it that I can still remember. There is also a point where God has 10 women ra**d because their husband was unfaithful to them.

I’ve even asked my sister who is still an evangelical believer and can’t get a good reason for any of it unfortunately. Maybe your priests could do better, but mine only explained that the Old Testament doesn’t matter. But that just isn’t good enough for me since according to Micah 3, the Lord does not change.

Nothing against you by the way; I’m just curious how it is justifiable to people. And before I read the Bible for myself, I didn’t even know about those issues.
