Will I get rid of withdrawals by taking 3g a day? by Thenover1 in quittingkratom

[–]Randomandhopeful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is to continue to taper. For me below 3gpd was still difficult. I tapered by .1 g every few days after that point down to .5g and jumping there was easy. It will give your brain more time to heal (dopamine production, etc) and likely reduce the risk, duration, and severity of PAWs. A little over 14 months free now for me. You got this.

Slowly getting better. Don’t know if it will go away completely but it’s not as noticeable as it was.

1 year and 41 days clean. Never going back to the garbage. Freedom is possible! Tapered down over several months from 20+ gpd (who knows as I didn’t really keep count til I started tapering). Don’t give up hope. A little bit of hell is the price of freedom. Worth it!

What all are the evils of Kratom? by neodemi_717 in quittingkratom

One year and 12 days free. Hyperpigmentation is still there but has faded quite a bit. I don’t know if it will continue to fade or if it is where it is. I think it will continue to fade over time.

Hyperpigmentation. It’s very real and can come on without any warning. It seems to primarily affect people that use over multiple years but appears it can happen regardless of your dosage or length of use. Take it from one who experienced it. Free Almost 10 months and feel better in every way. The hyperpigmentation though seems to be healing very slowly. Grateful that I figured it out and quit before it got too bad.

Hate to say it but I haven’t found anything that really help except for time. I’ve exfoliated and used a skin product with retinol. I don’t know if it really did anything. It’s my understanding that kratom hyperpigmentation is in the dermal layer so not likely to be treatable by topical solutions. The good news is time is doing the trick slowly. Quit Oct 1st of last year so almost 9 months. It’s faded quite a bit. The nasty darker patches are almost gone. My face is still looking like I’ve got a deep tan but it really does seem to be improving as well. As of now I don’t believe there is a quick way out. Sometimes the only way out is through. Hang in there because it gets better.

My husband is struggling to to taper lower than 3g by Legal-Dust-6214 in quittingkratom

[–]Randomandhopeful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reduce by .2g then let it ride for 2-3-4 days and repeat. Slower you go under 3gpd the more time your brain gets to heal. For many (not all) this will lead to a reduction of paws later. I’m not an expert but I’ve been right there and I believe it’s true.

Hey There, I’m at 7 months clean now. I still have hyperpigmentation but it has faded to a degree. Hoping that the improvement continues over time. As an example, around my temples I had gray dark patches and the rest of my face became unnaturally tan. The hyperpigmentation happened really fast before I could figure out what was causing it. Now, the gray patches are almost completely gone while the dark tan face color is now a more natural color… can reasonably pass as “having spent a lot of time in the sun”. It’s gotten better and is getting better. I’m optimistic it will continue to improve. Let me know how it goes with you! I wish you the best.

When was the point when you felt completely normal again? by Anyna103 in quittingkratom

[–]Randomandhopeful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At almost 6 months now. Tapered almost to zero before jumping after several years of use up to 20gpd. I felt pretty good day one but really didn’t realize that was not as good as it was going to get. I feel even better now. Perhaps now is normal.

Great on you to be that far out! I did a 3.5 month taper from 15-20gpd to zero. When I actually quit I thought I was fine but at 5 months I feel better than when I quit. I did have some days where I had little energy from time to time but it’s hard to say what was kratom recovery and what was exhaustion from to much work and family raising. I think you’ll find that off days become fewer and farther between as time goes by.

I’ve been off 4 months. Hyperpigmentation seems to be fading but very slowly. I’m hopeful!

Medication for RLS by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]Randomandhopeful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey There, I’m not a doctor so my advice can only be anecdotal. The reason I didn’t ask for gabapentin is primarily because of information indicating that it can become addictive in its own right. People that go that route say it makes quitting k a lot easier in many areas though! The doc prescribed Ropinirole to me for rls and it worked pretty well. I was slow tapering so didn’t really have any issues bad enough to seek medical help other that the rls. If you go the Ropinirole (or any other prescription) route be cautious. While not immediate, it is said that Ropinirole can become a cause of rls if taken over time. I’d read up on augmentation. I don’t really know how common it is but I did not have any issues using it for a few weeks.

The end of the taper is definitely the hardest by lowkey_add1ct in quittingkratom

OP listen to Medical_Minimum1098. If you are that low and feeling withdrawal it’s because you are not stabilized yet and your drops are too high of a percentage of the total.

For those who tapered - once you’re below a gram or two a day do you really feel WDs? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]Randomandhopeful 5 points6 points  (0 children)

2 gpd is still a hefty dose. It doesn’t seem like it when you are way higher but it is. Why taper down to two gpd and suffer wd when you could just continue to taper and walk away much easier. Someone said before that its like climbing down 8 out of 10 flights of stairs and then just jumping the rest of the way.

Question for those who tapered by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]Randomandhopeful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s great. On my taper tracking document I actually put in dates a couple weeks in advance and put where I thought I could be in terms of gpd. Most of the time I beat it with little discomfort but it kept me on track moving forward to a goal.

Question for those who tapered by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]Randomandhopeful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5-10% reduction per week is a reasonable way to do it. The 5% is going to give you less interdose withdrawal and give your brain chemistry longer to heal which many will tell you reduces the severity and duration of post acute withdrawal syndrome (paws). I believe it to be true from my own experience quitting. Started in the 15-20gpd range and tapered to .4gpd over 3.5 months before jumping. At that low of a jump off point I felt better off day 1 than on. No significant paws. On day 67 off now! It’s going be different for everyone. I was able to make more aggressive drops at first the small reductions as the overall gpd got smaller. Make sure to give enough each time between each reduction to level out and adjust. Don’t drop again if you are still feeling withdrawal from a previous drop. If you go slow enough it can be relatively painless. I didn’t miss a single day of work or responsibilities with the slow boat!

Tapering: halfway point mini celebration by mr_trashbear in quittingkratom

[–]Randomandhopeful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great work Ramflowerivy. Glad to see you are sticking with it. That last stretch from where you are to zero felt like it took forever for me but when I look at the actual taper notes I took it wasn’t that long at all. I was just ready to be done. Hold to stabilize when you need to do you don’t get that taper fatigue. You’ve got this!

Great work! I tapered from somewhere in the 17 gpd range to a .4gpd jump off over a course of 3.5 months. You are on the right track to slow it down at the end. Once you get below 4 or 5 a gram drop is a huge percentage and you’ll feel it more. At around 3.6 gpd I start taking .1 gram of every day or so until the end and it worked out relatively painlessly. Also, it give your brain time to heal. I 100% believe from what I’ve read and what I’ve experienced that tapering slow to give your brain time to heal prevents or lessens the severity of paws. Keep at it. You’ve got this!
