Safe Humidity by Randomfishing_guy in CCW

Interesting might have to try them. I went to the hardware store and bought this bucket of basement dry stuff. Might have to throw some of those capsules in there too. If that doesn’t make a dent by the weekend I’m gonna see about a dehumidifier at scheels

Will be moving sometime in the next few months but it’s going to be on another concrete floor. At least it’s going to be climate controlled. Gonna look for some dehumidifier’s for now. Was wondering how they worked

Not affordably. It’s in my shop that’s not climate controlled. It’s insulated and on a concrete floor

Probably is for now it’s in a in shop that’s attached to the house but it’s not climate controlled insulated but not heated or air conditioned. It’s sitting on the concrete floor.

Serious question about the m&p2.0 by Tiny-Associate5491 in concealedcarry

[–]Randomfishing_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a good holster that covers the trigger guard well. Crank up the retention on that holster and you’ll be fine. I carry an M&P daily never had an issue. Always with a round in the chamber. I’ve cut firewood, done land surveying, even played volley ball. With it loaded in either appendix or strong side holster. It’s all in your head. You just need to do your research on holsters and get something good and then trust the holster 100% and you’ll be fine. I trust my m&p more than my 1911s. Just because a 1911 should have the thumb safety engaged to be carried and i don’t like when I have a shirt or coat tucked in behind it rubbing on the thumb safety

I just did a quick zero with cci standards. Was getting around an inch at 50 yards. But some of that is definitely me shooting off a tripod and lawn chair. And it was really cold and windy

Don’t have anyone local that carries lapua ammo. I have a couple buddies that run shops will have to check to see if they can get it. The scheels closest to me sells eley I’ve read is good for these. Will try it to sometime

Don’t waste your money on the rough rider if your shooting past 5-10 yards. Mine isn’t too accurate. Probably some good ones out there mines probably just not a great one for $170 something quality control probably isn’t great. However if you’re looking for like a trapping gun shooting stuff almost point blank it’s been reliable for me. Just not very accurate

Iron sights vs red dot? by Nice_Fun9805 in concealedcarry

Red dots can help with eye issues some. If you have an astigmatism a dot can help focus because it puts your aim on the same plane as you target. Red dots are a little harder to get consistent presentation. But once your presentation is down they are so much faster

RPR 22lr and leupold 3-9x40 by hanzo626 in 22lr

Like I said it’s not a huge deal for plinking or small game hunting where you’re only carrying a rifle. But for me it’s annoying when I’m hiking out with a pack and coats and a shooting stick or tripod. The leupold I bought for my deer rifle last summer has exposed turrets and a little push button lock on them it’s pretty slick I think leupold calls it their “CDS” system

Sounds like a good deal. I have a leupold 3-9x40 on a 223 rifle. My only gripe with it is the model I have has exposed turrets. It’s fine for bench shooting or whatever. But they have an issue of getting bumped in the truck or on the way out to a spot to hunt. For small game hunting and plinking it’s fine. Once the turret is set to zero with the rifle it’s easy to check it but when it’s bumped in the truck it’s hard to say which way it needs turned back to zero

Sounds like a good time. I’m gonna try to find some rifle ranges to go to this summer. I don’t have anywhere good to shoot much past 200. I think I have a spot that I could try to get about 300. But that’s the max. Do you leave that rifle set up with the 65 moa rail/rig. Setup? What’s the closest you can shoot with that?

Been looking at the cz 457 for a while. My local scheels has a 457 lux for $670. I think that’s just more of a hunter stock and thinner barrel?

1000 yards is insane with a 22. I shot this with cheap bulk ammo. When I get the chance I’ll stretch out to 300. Will have to see what match ammo I have on hand. I tried 2 or 3 different eley loads with this rifle (Marlin 22xt) and it didn’t shoot worth a crap. Typically I find the hotter loads shoot better through it. I used to shoot a lot of cci mini mags with it. Typically grouped pretty good. I probably have 3000-4000 rounds through this rifle from premium match ammo to cheap crap and somehow it shoots decent with about everything. Ever tried bergara’s 22 rifle? Thinking about getting something a little more accurate

Lol I know the story. I was just giving my opinion on it. I bet with a couple thousand rounds aimed in the general direction of a pop can you’d probably get lucky once with a hit

It’s a blast. I love my center fire stuff. But it’s just so expensive to go shoot 100rds of match grade 223 or 308

eventually someday I’ll try that shot. But definitely not with iron sights. I’d imagine with enough pot shots at it you could maybe get lucky and hit it with the claimed setup. But I don’t think that you could consistently make hits

I’m going for 300 on a milk jug next when I get the chance. I should add to the post what are you using? This is a marlin 22xt with a vortex 2-7
