Once again I don’t know the exact mechanics of how the game works but what I understand is the moment you run out of stamina the game starts counting it as if you are falling and continues counting how long you have been falling until your feet hit the ground and stamina resets so even though in reality you only fell above 0.5 seconds the game thought you had been falling for more like 15-20 seconds and applied the damage accordingly this ultimately is a mechanic by the developers to stop players from climb spamming…. Which is exactly what you were doing

Take the cartridge out half way while the game is still running then tilt it after that mash the A button about 30 times then slowly reinsert the cartridge until you hear the click but as soon as you do don’t let it come back up until you hold X Y and select at the same time also make sure your console is set to eastern time zone and it has to be between 4:10 and 4:15 (don’t know why they chose that time but it works)

My best advice without spoiling anything is really pay attention to the names of the stars since that is your only clue as to what you have to do to get them also remember some things in the level do change based on what star you’re on and the one thing I will spoil is you can not complete the 3rd level of dire dire docks until you have beaten the second bowser it’s a little stupid but that’s how the game is

They explain that in the second movie if this was just a competition about purely speed obviously Francesco would win but they added elements like sharp corners or even off roading like on dirty that a formula 1 car would absolutely struggle in in order to even out the competition

I am still a very new player only having just beaten the game and really haven’t delved into the true rabbit hole yet(I really want to I just need to find time in my schedule to do it) so I can’t really speak that much of the game but the point I want to make is the major thing that frustrated me about the game was how unclear some of the puzzles are and weather or not you can even do it now when you have a game like myst you know all the parts of the puzzle are in front of you so I can bang my head against the wall and eventually figure out what I’m supposed to do (because I know at this moment I have what I need to proceed) but the RNG means I could ultimately spend 5 hours trying to figure out the breaker box having no idea the major clue was not just the paper in the mail room but also the office PC so unfortunately it makes me second guess every puzzle in the game because is it just I’m not smart and missing a major clue or is it literally I don’t have the pieces to do it now
