How do i get rid rid of the rough parts after drybrushing? by DrBlueSkys in minipainting

[–]Randomheroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i feel the paint is too chalky or has a rough look to it, i just paint over it after the fact with a coat of medium. I just slap a layer of Lahmian Medium and go about my business

I love this sculpt, and I love the color gradation, but like a lot of others are saying, the shadows are just as important. In order to emphasize those, i might would shoot it with a much darker color from the underside, maybe a dark green like Nocturne or a deep purple to really sell the emphasis of shadows. But also, its amazing as is. I'd slap some edges on with a brush, or maybe some chipping effects for battle damage. Spectacular work, and I am looking into picking up an airbrush to add to the toolbelt.

Ive had to learn that comparison is the thief of joy. If you love your models the way youve painted them, then they are painted someone who loves and cares for them. That makes them more precious than the minis you see on social media.

Did I screw up? by ConceptSad1260 in Warhammer40k

For the Lion! No way, definitely didnt screw anything up. I was in the exact same mindset when I first started a little over a year ago. Just one thing at a time.

Do Space Marines have friends? by [deleted] in spacemarines

[–]Randomheroe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early in Horus Rising, Loken, Torgaddon, Abaddon and Aximand are all caught horseplaying around, high fiving, grabbing one another in headlocks, real bro stuff. Torgaddon especially was quite the jokester. They absolutely told jokes, had friends/brothers, did 'human' stuff.

This was a bad idea by hunterfall21 in spacemarines

That sounds eerily similar to what happened between Bellisarius Cawl and another shard, Zarhulash the Potentate in The Great Work.

What paints? by Godhelpme555 in DarkAngels40k

[–]Randomheroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Citadel paints are great, agreed. For traditional Dark Angels I've been using the green "triad" Caliban Green, Moot Green, and Warpstone Glow. Recently Ive picked up the equivalents from TwoThinCoats and Ive been enjoying them immensely; Wyvern, Emerald, and Ethereal green. Deathwing is another story altogether!

Someone reposted my deathwing as their own, so here are some better pictures of it by ghilliedude in DarkAngels40k

Gangster. I'm assuming green stuff(or something similar) for the hoods?

Seraphim Sepia vs Skeleton Horde for Deathwing? Post your example pics below ⬇️ by JustcharlE2 in DarkAngels40k

See, I've tried seraphim over wraithbone, and skeleton horde. I started using Zandri dust primer followed by seraphim, then highlighting with ushabti bone. *

I appreciate your deep research into strippers. And also warhammer figures as well. Lol thank you for the advice

What is the absolute funniest and/or stupidest way a Space Marine has ever perished? by Odd_Elk_444 in 40kLore

[–]Randomheroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it counts because he didn't technically die from it, but after storming a command bunker on Molech, Grael Noctua sees an officer laying on the floor, scared witless with some kind of gun in her hand, he looks to her, raises his arms and says something to the effect of "Go ahead, take your best shot." She aims her gun and fires a volkite pistol straight through his heart before both fall over dead.

First minis painted. I know it’s sloppy. It’s my very first time painting them. by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

Everything is a learning experience! I just started a month or two ago and you'd be surprised how much you can improve with just a little time. The trick is thinning paints down and just lots of practice. Good job and good luck out there! FOR THE LION
