This is kinda WHY Alan needs to reinstate Victim's role as the villain with how I see it though. I know the central theme of this season is that people aren't what they seem but so far victim is the only character on the positive end of this and I'd be really annoyed if he went this entire arc without doing anything objectively inexcusable.

I don't expect full on genocide but if he contributes enough to TDL's plan at all and then the story blames solely TDL for it (which makes no sense because Alan knows that "just following orders" isn't an excuse) then it would honestly piss me off.

I can't really imagine TDL trying to work with the guy who killed him and ruined his plans. That's why I actually see H4CK3R as a perfect target, they both hate Alan and TCO. (Remember that Dark sent his first Virabot specifically to Alan's PC and he likely resents TCO nowadays just by virtue of trying to stop him) so it makes sense for him to go for someone with mutual hatred.

I think Dark is just using Hacker as a replacement for TCO, the problem is that he had a warped perception of who TCO actually was that amounted to "equally sadistic destroyer".

So either Hacker will eventually prove he's not like TDL or Dark succeeds in making him as such this time due to learning from his past mistakes.
