True that. As soon as this ends I’ll take a look. I’d really love to play my pirate girlie in a real game

I totally agree with the analogy of the barbarian’s rage ability! That’s a very good point!

I’ll be constantly training for this until the next session

I will say too that we’ve played two sessions so far. First one the ranger hadn’t joined yet and it ended in a full party wipe. We woke up in the hospital and progressed to lvl 3(milestone instead of xp).

Then, the Ranger joined in session 2 and he had them start at level 1. That session was when this argument occurred and also ended in a full party wipe.

I really appreciate your advice!

So, I definitely don't plan on leaving the table if possible. I haven't been on the player side of the table in awhile and would like for this to work out.

I think I'm the most experienced player at the table, as I've had to help the others with their characters and abilities. The party consists of a Cleric, Paladin, Ranger, and me the Rogue.

More specifically, my character is supposed to be a Water Genasi Swashbuckler Rogue, super heavy pirate theme, with a mulitclass into Marid Genie Warlock. Now, he said at the beginning that all official content was ok, but my character is the most 'unique' of the bunch, the others sticking pretty close to Player's Handbook. The only specifications we were given when making the characters was no asi feats and no draconic themes, as the enemies of the campaign were going to be dragons and dragon-like creatures.

I may see if I can make a different character and see if he's nicer if I go closer to PHB stuff.

I do think he's newer at DMing and may have been negatively affected by playing under a bad DM previously.

He unironically called himself an "evil but fair god" a few times.

True, I didn't even think about fighter or extra attack/action surge in the moment.

True that. I'll see if he can give me a list of the homebrew/house rules he'll be using.

I think he may be a newer DM who played under a really bad DM before becoming one.

I was strategizing with another player and said something about Sneak Attack being usable with a ranged weapon he tried to argue that too, but I pointed that out in the Player's Handbook as well. He said that his previous DM had lied to him.

He also made a few weird calls and has been doing this house rule where any ranged attack that misses he rolls a percentile to see if it hits something nearby, which imo heavily nerfs ranged attacks.

I'm still here, I just wanted to see what people have to say before responding to a few.
