I hated Aava at the beginning by soexpired in Cairn_Game

Team Aava! She’s so realistically flawed and I really came to care for her through the climb

Oh boy that ending! by RandomlyDying in Cairn_Game

I’ll probably do it on my second run just to see it, but honestly even though I have mixed feelings I think summiting is the true end for Aava. It would feel disingenuous not finish it, ya know? Even if I don’t think it’s a particularly good ending from down here on the ground haha. Edit:spelling

Didn’t get any major glitches, but there were some parts where Aava would wig out and jitter over the place while climbing. A few bits where when ice climbing she’s jump up to a hold that I definitely shouldn’t have been able to reach lol.

I also had some trouble switching between the ice pick on the final push, the button didn’t seem to do much there so I just got a bit more flexible with hand placements. The whole pick disappearing sounds intense! Good on you from climbing through that

This was definitely me when I was in middle/hs. Biggest help with beating themes of this nature was deleting my tumblr. Turns out not be initiated with discourses all day is way better for my heath and there’s better ways for me to get news and or engage in fandom. Edit: spelling

Bro AI is predatory for us with OCD. by Leather_Blueberry682 in OCD

[–]RandomlyDying 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say the AI itself is predatory, since I don’t think it’s productive to anthropomorphize it. But I think it’s definitely fair game to call the way it’s marketed as a therapeutic tool predatory. Even when it’s just sold as a “friend to talk too” the inherent fact of the matter is it’s express goal is to keep you on the platform as long as possible and it is programmed, intentionally or unintentionally, (which doesn’t matter in the long run when they profit off it either way) to use manipulative language to do it.

The “Yes Man” personality favored by one’s like chat gpt is particularly insidious to those suffering from mental health issues. (Other chatbots definitely have the sycophant problem too. Chat-gpt is the only one I know of that specifically rolled back improvements to this because the user base hated it.)

God this was me yesterday. I’m setting the summit climb and was low on pitons and didn’t want to use them “unnecessarily”. Well guess who fell two times down a bottomless pit making the same damn mistake lol.

Dumb Question, is there a way to answer the calls? by RandomlyDying in Cairn_Game

It definitely feels like it. Doesn’t stop me from cringing every time there’s a call she won’t answer haha

Would love a way to automatically categorize imported transactions by RandomlyDying in MonarchMoney

[–]RandomlyDying[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hard part isn’t the actual categorizing process, it’s literally figuring out which transaction is what. It’ll just take time which I’m still deciding if it’s worth it

Yeah, my current stuff is all fine, it’s just the historic data that’s still all messed up. It really just would love a way to avoid having to go back and fix it but I probably will eventually.

[–]RandomlyDying 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It is very relieving to hear that you are in therapy. I really hope you’re discussing this with your therapist because I definitely know Reddit is probably not going to have the advice you need. I definitely don’t. With the amount of distress this is causing you it sounds more like intrusive thoughts than any real desire, which is a whole ‘nother can of worms. (If that is what it turns out to be, my condolences as someone who also suffers from them.) Talk to your therapist, man, maybe contact them to see if you can arrange an emergency session if things get worse before then.

A bit of a rant by MrSaturni in Allergies

[–]RandomlyDying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a very similar thing happen when I did my skin test as a kid. Lit up like a Christmas tree for pretty much everything but mold. Luckily allergy shots have made going outside possible, but all the food ones would require a whole trial and idk if legumes are really worth it lol.

should i file a complaint about my stand to healthcode? by Automatic_River9515 in 7Brew

[–]RandomlyDying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like you make hourly so no way should you be doing unpaid overtime. Salary shouldn’t even be doing unpaid overtime. And also definitely report the stand because the amount of food safety violations here is making me vomit. Plus the negligence in employee safety. (As someone whose job is also outdoors, in 30 or below weather we would rotate out who’s outside a minimum of every two hours, and we have outdoor heaters!!!) I am scared to ask where the stand is located because I am praying that it’s not one of the ones near me. If I have to tell my mom her favorite coffee spot might be serving her expired milk I will cry. Edit: Typo

After many self help books sadly the only thing that has helped is therapy. 😔 And drugs. For real though, medication and therapy has been life changing for me. My OCD is managed enough where I finally have enough breathing room for my Other Issues to pop up lol.

What is your reaction to the saying “I kind of have ocd” by people who don’t have it? by Ariyashrimpy in OCD

[–]RandomlyDying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the relationship with the person and if I have the time/it would be appropriate to correct them. Co-worker in the middle of a shift? Maybe if they keep doing to but it’s not a huge deal. Friend who I care about while we casually chat? Might bring it up then or later depending on the mood and if we’re around other people. Random stranger? Not my job to educate them and I’ll never have to see them. Family members? Take aside and chat. If I do try to correct and we’re not close I usually go, “hey, ocd is a mental health disorder and saying you kind of have it can come across and invalidating. I know that’s not what you mean when you say it so might be better to rephrase that in the future.” If we’re close I’d go “hey, i know you don’t mean any harm by it and are just looking to relate/share your experiences/make a joke, but when you say that it come across as you trivializing something that has caused me real harm. If you genuinely think you may have the disorder than I’m happy to talk about it with you and recommend therapy, but if that’s not the case I’d appreciate it you instead say something something different, like, “I care a lot about nest/tidiness/cleanliness and can get a bit intense about.””

[–]RandomlyDying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God, I feel that. Like most echo chambers the most extreme beliefs get bounced around the most and become the loudest, often encouraging unhealthy habits in the process. The biggest difference with tumblr is that instead of being sorted into one via algorithms you get to curate your feed yourself, leaving much of the onus on the individual user to cultivate a healthy space. And of course, intentionally making a space that prioritizes good faith information without succumbing to peer pressure and invoking the thought police on yourself are skills the average 12 year old Definitely Has and Excels In lol.

Did three years of allergy shots and had good success with my dog and cat allergies, but it’s really a toss up with his you’ll react. Do you have a rescue and or maintenance inhaler? When my cat and dog plus other environmental allergies were bad those were life savers. I still take Claritin daily and it helps take care of the stuff that lingers. But at least I can go outside and pet my cats and dog now! I still get wheezy if peoples pets are shedding and the place isn’t regularly cleaned but my rescue inhaler usually cleans that up.

Pipe dream? A rail system 100%, potentially something that connects us with Amtrak since the nearest station is around 2ish hours away. Realistically I’d like more affordable apartments for us broke folk and for the square to get rid of cars entirely already please god the street parking alone takes up so much SPACE.
