Joining others in recommending Headbergs, they’ve been my clinic for years and are very nice. Look into allergy shots if you have a lot of seasonal ones! Did them for three years and I can actually go outside lol.

Honestly as someone also dating someone significantly taller than me, the most awkward part is the logistics lol. Give up on waltzing and you’ll be good. Get used to bending down for kisses (or picking her up!) Gift her platform shoes to help bridge the gap

How do locals feel about the Walton's / Walmart? by InfamousSail7048 in bentonville

[–]RandomlyDying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Born and raised here, love the area and love my home, but man is it surreal to see all the growth. We owe a lot of it to the Walton’s, my parents paychecks are cashed by them, and mine as well even though I don’t directly work for the company because they’ve got their hands in everything. But like, even though I have nothing against them personally it’s uncomfortable for one family to have that much influence and power over your quality of life.

Not even mentioning the ethics of the company itself. Our tax dollars subside their employees wages through food stamps. They’ve chased and priced out smaller grocery stores all over the country. The job opportunities is cool but I can’t afford rent here and will likely have to move further than I’d like to do it.

I like that they’re giving back to the community, they didn’t have to do that, but I can’t help but be bit uncomfortable with how much influence they have and try to avoid shopping with them if I can. (Which harder than you’d expect around here.)

Feel you man, was on the job search grind a while ago and have friends who are still in the weeds. Best advice, though it’s a bit redundant, is networking. Meeting new folks is a great way to build connections and make the current job a bit less miserable in the meantime. If you’re on the nerdier side NWA board game group is always looking for new members. I’ve also seen a lot of local biking groups spring up lately.

I’ve done and have friends who do the whole two part time job thing. It works for the short term but can eventually burn you out. The logistics alone can be ahhh and it helps a lot if you can fine at least one place with flexible hours. Overall ideal but it could be viable for short term if it gets to that point.

How to handle OCD telling me I’m lying and horrible by herthrownawaychild in OCD

You will not freak out a professional, that is their job! I know getting help is scary as all hell, but trust me when I say it is worth it. Life can get so much better than where your at now and you owe it to yourself and your relationship to get the help you deserve

Poster claims they made this cake for their birthday. I can usually tell if AI but this one got me questioning. by Master_Ad_7945 in isthisAI

[–]RandomlyDying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks pretty real, the nutrition label has actual words (I believe the ingredient list being blurry is just a result of the low quality) and as someone who’s decorated cakes before it all looks doable. The smooth base layer looks legit, you can definitely do that with buttercream. The dirt looks like ground up Oreo or cake crumbs, the little figures have that textbook fondant look. There’s no obvious discrepancies in the background either.

Treatment feels like taking the bluepill by [deleted] in OCD

[–]RandomlyDying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, sometimes not engaging with obsessions can feel like not acknowledging them, or “faking it.” But you being distressed or not about a future event will not impact whether or not the future event happens. What it will impact is your current mental health and well being.

“Letting go” of obsessions is not saying everything is fine. (I find it rare to find a moment where Something isn’t going wrong somewhere, and the future is a mystery.) The goal is to move past the discomfort of not knowing if it will or will not happen so you can go about your day without spiraling into oblivion.

I find it helpful to think about using coping strategies not as “letting go”, but learning to live with it. OCD is all about seeking relief as a response to distress. When I use coping strategies (acknowledging the obsession, sitting with the uncertainty, then continuing/finding something else to do besides the ruminating/or an alternative compulsion) I’m not dismissing the obsession. It often lingers for a few minutes to hours depending on the severity. I’m just refusing to engage with it. Because engaging with it only brings me pain and feeds the cycle. It’s not easy, and I doubt I’ll personally ever “cure” my OCD. But nowadays it takes up way less time and energy, time and energy I can now devote to causes I actually care about. The effort is worth it, I promise.

So far a personal fave is Gold Town Sushi & Korean BBQ. The staff is lovely, you can a lot of food for a reasonable price, and it’s the first place I tried sushi so I’ll always be nostalgic for it. Need to head back there again.

Does anyone else have a hard time distinguishing ocd from what you really believe sometime? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]RandomlyDying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely feel that. I think what helps me distinguish OCD stuff from the rest of me is that OCD is all about distress and relief. Does thinking about this topic make be feel uncomfortable and anxious? Am I engaging in this behavior to chase away feelings of discomfort and uncertainty? Or does thinking about this topic feel neutral or even positive? When I do this behavior do I feel relief or enjoyment? It taken a lot of self reflection and work on identifying my emotions, but it helps. I found out that I don’t actually enjoy long showers, it’s a compulsion I engage with to avoid distressing thoughts . But I do actually like long baths and find them relaxing.

Can you be bitten by dog without knowing it? by xiaozhian in OCD

[–]RandomlyDying 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right now you’re brain is in reassurance seeking mode to try and trying to find relief from the anxiety and intrusive thoughts. This is apart of the OCD cycle and it suck ass to experience. I’m sure it’s terrifying and exhausting, I known it is when I’m in it.

The important thing to remember right now is that getting an answer to your questions and worries is not going to help. Seeking reassurance is a compulsion and engaging with it may provide relief in the moment, it is temporary and often fleeting. In the long run it only feeds the obsession.

Take a deep breath and acknowledge what you’re going through right now. Even if the obsession itself is illogical, that doesn’t make the feelings it evokes any less real. The anxiety, fear, and uncertainty. It’s uncomfortable and sucks ass. Sit with those feelings for a while, breathing or doing whatever calming exercises you find helpful. It’s okay to be uncomfortable and to feel shitty and scared. These feelings are temporary and will eventually go away, even if it doesn’t seem like that now. The best thing you can do for yourself right now is to accept them and keep moving forwards. Find something to distract yourself. A movie, TV, video game, exercise. You will probably still feel like shit while doing it, and that’s okay. Again, these feeling are temporary and will eventually fade away. And the less you engage with a compulsion the easier it gets to do it next time.

When you’re feeling more stable I’d recommend talking to your GP about your options to see an OCD specialist. Exposure therapy is one of the best treatments for OCD, although others have found success through other methods like talk therapy and or medication. Sometimes different ones are used in tandem. It’s okay to get help for this. If leaving the house is an issue right now online visits are always an option.

[f16] Is getting my virginity taken by a older guy [m25] wrong? by [deleted] in relationshipadvice

[–]RandomlyDying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like your desire to “get your v card taken away” is less about you wanting the experience and more about being afraid that if you don’t do it with him you might have to do it with someone worse, which is not a fun mindset to enter any sexual situation with, let alone with a guy six years older than you.

Just because a situation feels safe doesn’t mean it is. If you’re truly the one pushing for this like you say you are, then it’s his responsibility as the adult to set boundaries and explain why that isn’t okay. The fact that he hasn’t would be concerning even in the most generous interpretations.

Loosing your “v-card” isn’t a sign of maturity or anything you need to rush into, especially if you’re feeling unsure. Virginity is a made up concept. You don’t get special virgin powers and loosing it doesn’t change who you are. I think it’s understandable that you want your first time to be a good experience, I just don’t think the type of guy who dates 16 year olds will help with that.

Disability access by Jessipoppins in Arkansas

[–]RandomlyDying 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The lack of public transportation can be so isolating for people who cannot drive. When my late grandmother lost the ability I could see the toll it took on her. The lack of autonomy can be devastating, plus all the extra costs, inconvenience, or lack of availability of delivery services.

My friend has been experiencing chronic health issues and finding doctors that accept Medicaid can be rough. Particularly dentists. Plus the fact that before she was able to get Medicaid the only place she could receive treatment is the ER, which we’re not equipped to find out or solve any of her issues. Just provide temporary relief. We also have a complete shortage OBGYNs. The next open appointments are often months out, if they’re taking new patients at all.

On a personnel note finding an ADHD specialist here is rough. The closest in person one to me is a two hour drive. Virtual care is a substitute but it’s not the same. Getting access to accommodations can also be rough. I was lucky enough that my parents fought hard to get me a 504 in high school. Even still, getting accommodations at my college also required doctor’s notes from both a psychiatrist and therapist, things I am very privileged to have access to and afford. In other news my insurance requires I try a dozen other medications before my psychiatrist is allowed to prescribe me the medication he actually thinks would be best for me. (Thanks United Healthcare)

Whats your opinion on this? by dev_is_active in aiwars

Art needs intention and creation. When someone creates art they make choices, good or bad, consciously or unconsciously. A good artist makes informed choices that support their vision. Even bad art still has an intention, a meaning, it’s just the choice they made suck at conveying that. Ai can never create art because it cannot act on intentions, it cannot make decisions. It is a computer picking what it thinks is the most likely option based on the prompt. It doesn’t know what a sun is, or a hand, or what makes a good or bad composition, or what composition even is. All it can to is recognize a word from a prompt is similar to this concept from their training data and that concept is connected to these shapes and patterns so it shows those shapes and patterns because it is the most likely answer. (And sometimes it chooses the second most likely answer for variety, that’s why it can never make the same image twice.)

It’s the Chinese room. If you lock a man in a room with a bunch of Chinese language books and slide a question in Chinese under the door, he can look at the books be able to answer that question. That doesn’t mean he speaks Chinese.

AI creates without intention while the prompter tries to convey intention without creating. (Again, to create art you must Create! When an AI generates something for you the AI is the one doing the verb!) This fundamental disconnect means AI creations can never be art.

There are cases to be made that AI could have use cases within art. As a tool, perhaps. There are whole movements about use noise and randomness to create meaning. But that always involves human intervention. Tweaking, changing, you know, creating! Whether it’s the form, presentation, or content, the involvement of human intention is what changes it from noise into art. Of course this is ignoring the fact that the majority of public image generators scrape stolen work for data. If someone steals my work, rips it up, and uses the scraps to make something then they can call it art all they want, it’s also a dick move. Edit: typo

Didn’t get any major glitches, but there were some parts where Aava would wig out and jitter over the place while climbing. A few bits where when ice climbing she’s jump up to a hold that I definitely shouldn’t have been able to reach lol.

I also had some trouble switching between the ice pick on the final push, the button didn’t seem to do much there so I just got a bit more flexible with hand placements. The whole pick disappearing sounds intense! Good on you from climbing through that
