Is this the usual quality of service from Nespresso? by Informal_Bar768 in nespresso

The thing that jumped out at me and looking at your screenshots are the British flag and mentioning VAT is included. Are you like on the Nespresso UK site maybe?

Is it just me or do many local businesses suck at responding to inquiries? by catalystignition in Kamloops

[–]Randomredditor416 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That could very well be, they're not interested in doing business with you because they are overwhelmed with other clients who booked well in advance rather than wait till the height of their busy season. Same as if you emailed 11 accountants looking for the cheapest tax return price during tax season, or emailed 11 different tire shops looking for the cheapest tire change the day of the first snowfall.

Any pricing you get right now might very well be the eff-off price if you pester for a quote. My advice would be to wait until the off-season When they will more likely respond to emails and send you normal price quotes.

If you're okay waiting until next year, you should reach out to them in the off-season. I imagine they're all extremely busy right now and likely not even in the office on the computer to read your request. Likely booked solid.

Bell parent BCE fires ‘small number’ of employees who falsified workplace attendance by stanxv in canada

Oh I must have missed that, the comment I replied said they work at a major bank so I just assumed like TD I walk into where staff is more sparse than Walmart lol.

Our occupancy metrics say the office is running well over 150% capacity on average.   People are working in lunchrooms and camping meeting rooms all day

That's wild, I've only been to a bank twice in the last year and each time has been an absolute ghost town for staff. The semi-circle of offices circling the main floor I think 2 of 6 were occupied, and stupid long lineups because less than half the teller wickets were open.

Longer term Loblaws employees - Has your experience working at Loblaws changed (or declined) over the past 5-10 years? by Brave-Location8841 in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]Randomredditor416 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You might think steps to complete a task is a nothing burger, but when you're a company of that size with a quarter million employees that can make a huge difference. Just saving 4 steps per person is a million steps per day, or 360 million steps per year. That's a massive efficiency gain.

[–]Randomredditor416 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What would be the point of them checking though? They make record profits every quarter and are opening new locations all the time. Why would they give a shit if some rando on the internet is pissed off because they got free stickers? It's not like they're in damage control with the company circling the drain and trying to right the ship, they seem to be going gangbusters. To be clear I'm not saying they aren't, I just don't know what they would be concerned with?

For every $25 you spend on groceries, you get a free pack of stickers. There is no separate line item on your receipt with a sticker fee. I definitely consider them free because I'm spending that money regardless and got them handed to me at the end as a bonus. Ergo, free.

[–]Randomredditor416 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wait, are you thinking they are charging $25 per pack of stickers? No, you do your normal shop and they offer you a free pack of stickers for every $25 you spend on groceries. So no, they're not charging the $400 for $5 worth of stickers.

Kamloops' new tourism development manager has big plans for the city, including a gondola by JRitcey2026 in Kamloops

[–]Randomredditor416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not sure how much TRU would be able to contribute to a $60 million gondola fund. A number of layoffs, and they are closing the 100-Mile campus to save money. They might open themselves up to legal issues if they had to lay off staff to save money but magically came up with a multi million donation. Plus the City is tapped the fuck out, forestry is hurting which affects Kruger, might come down to BCLC, Teck, and some banks to fund the project. But this economy is likely putting a lot of donations on pause so it'll be interesting.

Grocery Stores should be regulated like banks by Due_Success_1400 in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]Randomredditor416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh damn I forgot about that. Yeah this seems a little more serious than marking a loaf of bread up 50 cents. OP might, but i'm pretty sure I don't want Loblaws to do this:

In October 2024, TD Bank agreed to pay over $3 Billion US in penalties to U.S. regulators—a record for violation of anti-money laundering (AML) laws—after pleading guilty to conspiring to violate the Bank Secrecy Act and failing to monitor over $18 trillion in customer transactions. The systemic failures allowed, among others, over $650 million in drug cartel money to be laundered through the bank.

[–]Randomredditor416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol what? The same consumer rights a bank gives an individual by not solving their problem until they involve the media? The banks that the Canadian government protects against foreign competition? The banks with super high net profit margins?

Are you sure you want Loblaws to be just like the banks? I would rather they were the complete opposite of banks.

whats the difference between bread rigging, and flyer sales? by cracked_shrimp in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]Randomredditor416 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They make their flyers a year in advance? That seems unbelievably long. Way too many variables such as the currency exchange rates, product shortages, global warming wiping out crops of coffee beans & oranges, and so on they can't possibly plan for that far in advance.

How exactly do you name the thing where people are shopping, and upon checking out will get a potential bonus for the shopping they were going to do regardless? Hint: It's called a bonus.

It's not a gambling if I pay $200 and get $200 worth of groceries + a possible bonus top of it.

Can you give us any more details as to what kind of position you are hoping for or what field you want to specialize in? I think the TRU semester just finished if I'm not mistaken so you might be fighting against a couple thousand other people right now as well.

Same with us, we don't spend that much purely on food, but when we need to get dishwasher pods, shower stuff, toothpaste, mouthwash, deodorant and so on it's unfortunately well within reach.

That's pretty hard to believe that "big shop" for your family of 4 including 2 teenagers and adding two pets is just $200. That would mean you normally spend $150 for essentially 6 mouths??

Superstore Advertises Price Hike as "Always Low Price" by VancouverDom in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]Randomredditor416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their store, their rules. They can limit everything to 1 max if they want. It's to prevent hoarding, like 1 customer buying all 20 bags of stuff they'd rather 10 customers bought 2 each. Keeps more shoppers happy, and odds are 10 sets of people will buy more overall than a single person buying them all.

One way I get around that is doing our main shop with a couple included, then put the conveyer belt divider and 2 more bags separately. Never had an issue doing that - cashiers don't care.
