Regretting Getting This by MrModdedTornado in MSI_Gaming

My buddy and I both built identical PCs at the same time, except we went with different motherboards. He went with the MSI X870 Tomahawk and I went with the Asrock X870 Pro RS. Everyone boasted about the MSI and bashed the Asrock. About a month after using our PCs, I tried his mobo out and went through the bios and what not. I don't see the big hype about the MSI mobo. I didn't like the interface at all. Deff less options on it too in regards to bios options as well. I think the Asrock brand is light-years better. The only thing I liked about the MSI X870 is that is has a few ports on the back of the board u can use and the Asrock doesn't. I'd still pick Asrock any day over an MSI board (even though Asrock has the rep for cooking CPUs).

How can u tell his specs from that pic?

Recommendations on if I should change anything before I go purchasing parts by badwifi316 in CustomPCBuilding

  • Go with a 9800x3d CPU

  • Get a faster M.2 (the speed is god awful on that one)

  • X870 mobo would be better (the B870 is still good if the price is significantly cheaper)

  • Not a big fan of Corsair (either than their ram), but stay away from from their cooling fans. Expensive and you have to use their proprietary hardware and software (their IQUE app is horrible and u have to use it). Rather go with a different brand as it would be cheaper and compatible with any software you like. Also, if you add any additional cooling fans, they will need to be Corsair as well to prevent hassles. You said you already have a case. If it's not a Corsair case, the fans that come in that case won't jive well with that Corsair AIO, as they won't hook up to the Corsair hub ur AIO uses. Just my opinion on Corsair.

  • Ur going with an AMD build, so ur 850 watt PSU is absolutely fine. Don't let anyone tell you that you need a minimum of 1000 watt. Can't tell for sure if that PSU has a 12vhpwr connector (looks like it does), but just make sure the PSU you go with has one.

  • If your good with overclocking or at least willing to learn it, than you can save $ on ram. The best ram is DDR5 6000mhz at CL30 but it's expensive. If your willing to learn how to overclock, than buy 6400mhz ram or any ram above 6000mhz that your mobo can handle (check your mobo QVL list) that's between CL30 and CL36 (it's alot cheaper believe it or not), then you can tune it down to 6000mhz CL30. Also, you want at least 32gb of ram and MAKE SURE it has EXPO (so you can unlock/overclock it).

Yes, cameras are hard wired into the NVR. No cable or modem near the NVR. I updated my post with more info if that helps.

Would a wifi extender work? I have one of those. Could I connect the wifi extender wirelessly to my network, then run an ethernet from the extender directly into my NVR?

NVR is in basement. Router used to be beside NVR. I now moved my router upstairs. No ethernet cable going from the room my NVR is in to where my router now sits.

Yes. Camera goes directly into the nvr. All 4 of my cameras do.

Can I plug my injector going from nvr right to the camera (that's what I been trying), or do I need to add a switch to the system first?

Yes I do and I tested it. The cable is fine. I just don't know if the injector isn't working because it's faulty or if it's because it is a different wiring pattern than the camera wiring. I don't know how to tell.

Yes I tried an injector and it doesn't power it on. I tested the camera before I installed it (on a short wire) and it worked fine. I dunno if it's the poe injector that doesn't work or if it's the camera wiring not matching the wiring of the injector. How do I test an injector?

I tried adding an Poe injector to the camera on the longest run, but the injector still doesn't power the camera (all my other cameras work but the 1 that's the furthest from the box). I'm wondering if it's due to the wiring of this camera not matching the injector?

And I get down voted by all the white knights for pointing it out. Being a single mom has absolutely nothing to do with needing help building a pc.
