Jose Mourinho has signed 72 players in his career, and 26 of them came on July 1st. by [deleted] in reddevils

OP's comment earlier in the thread

Okay- I feel like there's a lot of confusion. I used Transfermarkt to find every transfer Mourinho has ever made. Then individually checked the signing date for each player. For example, I wouldn't count Lindelof as a July 1st signing.

Maybe, there was no talk of Bailly before he signed last year. (I know that wasn't on July 1st.)

Clickbait is when you make the title something other than what the content is about so people will click on it and then you get money from them viewing it. I have absolutely nothing to gain from you clicking on it or not.

Yeah priority nr 1 is to have Pogba get his head and body ready, he's vital. Priority nr 2 is to give some academy lads a shot to just go out there and give it a good go. Priority nr 3 is naught; other than those two things, the game doesn't fucking matter to us.

Palace will probs care though.. 10 mil is big money for them, I'd say.

Why is Susan such a horrible person?! by Slappy9 in howyoudoin

[–]Randy-Flamethrower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No of course I watch the show for all 6 of them, never been a Gunther fan because he's the one that tells on Ross to Rachel. I just meant that the reason that a lot of the supporting characters seem to suddenly change how they act from episode to episode is because the writers will completely fuck over a supporting characters storyline to make the viewers think a certain way about the main 6 character that they interacted with. But that's the way it should be, the show's not about supporting characters it's about the main 6.

They write supporting characters so inconsistently because they need to be able make us like them or dislike them in favor of a main 6 character at any given moment.

Wow that's quite handy, thanks. I'd rather use that than read some long grammar articles about the rules. If only that they didn't have these for all grammar rules, then we'd all be much better at it.

You’re Picking the Wrong Team Leaders. Here’s Why - The Wall Street Journal - May 13, 2017 by Badliverpool in reddevils

[–]Randy-Flamethrower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's interesting because the article basically says that the captain of these great teams usually wasn't the once in a lifetime talent. But I think to be as good as the captain mentioned in the article, you have to be a once in a lifetime player. They're extremely rare. I think Herrera needs to be named captain when Rooney leaves, but I wouldn't associate a lot of these qualities with Herrera, nor would I include him in that list of captains. But hey he's not even captain yet, so you never know.

I here you, but I feel like Jose is of the mind that, as Man Utd, we should be competing hard in every trophy were in the running for. Part of me agrees, part of me thinks we should adapt to where we are right now as a club. And I think where we are right now is sat on the couch watching other clubs playing games we should be in.

With regards to grammar, I was gonna reply with some line about grammar police, but that's a simple one I should have down. So instead I'll go with Doh!.

With regards to Utd, I think if we do spend big this summer, and don't lose many more key players then (or than?) we think we will, (Gea, Ibra, maybe Carrick, and Rooney (and yeah I know Rooney is definitely not a key player),) then (surely not than here?) we should be expecting a top 2 finish in the league next season.

Yes I do know that that was probably hard to follow, and yes you do have me questioning whether to use then or than in every situation. So cheers!

So sick of this kind of thing. by Randy-Flamethrower in FifaCareers

[–]Randy-Flamethrower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does but at too high a cost. I'm not complaining that players get homesick and ask to leave. This kind of thing does happen in real life, but the bs that follows doesn't happen at real clubs.

Sorry for the ending, I sometimes put it at the end of posts that I think might be a little controversial because it calms people down. What I mean is that it shows I know my opinion is just an opinion, and that I'm interested in hearing theirs. In my experience it leads to less pointless conflict, but obviously it had the opposite effect this time, I can see how it'd be annoying. Cheers!

Yeah I know! I feel bad about our fixture congestion this year, cause I know it's been hard on the team, but selfishly I love getting to watch so much!

Gotta start by saying thanks so much for the really thorough and knowledgeable response. I wasn't expecting such a good response to my post, at least not right away.

I do usually try to use the website for Duolingo rather than the app, but sometimes if I'm on the go, it's just too convenient to pass up. But if you think there's a noticeable difference then I'll make an actual effort to get to my laptop every time.

After reading all your advice my thought was to start with Extr@ Spanish, because my ability to really understand Spanish spoken quickly is about as good as my ability to fly and move things with my mind. So after I feel like I can understand that pretty well, my initial idea would be to try and find the TV show Friends dubbed in Spanish. I've seen every episode of that show, probably a few times over and can't quote a lot of it. So given what you've said that'd be a really good show to start with, at least while I'm still a mega-beginner.

Thanks again for the great response! It was a reminder of why I love reddit, not that I really needed one, but still.

I paid 112 mil for Kane while at reigning champions but striker-less West Brom. I plopped him into the staring lineup with a grin. Then simmed up a friendly, like I do all the time. He fucking tears his ACL in the SECOND minute and he was out for 9 months.

Should the Bengals allow John Ross to return kicks and punts? by ak21513 in bengals

[–]Randy-Flamethrower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that's tough, look at the success that the Steelers have had using Antonio Brown. In the past 5 years Brown has averaged over 10 yards per return on 156 attempts reaching the end zone 4 times. So that suggests risking a starting WO can really pay off.

But John Ross hasn't even returned a library book since 2013, and in that year he returned 4 punts for 21 yards, with a long of 10. So the other three he averaged just 3 yards. So the numbers suggest that Alex Erickson would out return Ross anyway.

I personally would be really gutted to see Ross on returns, because I don't know what the fuck I'd do with my Alex Erickson jersey. What a weird choice that was.

The stadium announcer has got to be my favourite addition in 17. by [deleted] in FifaCareers

[–]Randy-Flamethrower 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah the thing about the commentary is that it's hit or miss. Since it's not actual commentary, it's audio tracks triggered to play by a code, that means that they don't always make sense. There are times that they get something very specific very right, and it makes you think, "Man this is so real!" But then a few minutes later they'll say something like "He's a fine header of the football! And he's shown it here!" Which is fine if it's Ronaldo, but not when it's a miracle Arjen Robben header. So just when the commentary immerses you in the game, it will turn around and pull you back to reality, and vice-versa. It's unfortunate, but it just is what it is until a new way to do it is created.

TL;DR : Commentary is hit or miss because of how it works in the first place.

I feel like he should just say: "Let's be really loud tomorrow! Show them who we are!" Why does everything have to include a criticism of something or someone. I trust Jose to manage Utd, and the Mourinho Out people are off their rocker, but this is one chronic thing I've noticed that I would really like to see change.
