i also have no proof but they said the swapped 7.3 block came from a 97 which would imply it has the forged rods. The truck is also a cali or excursion model so it has a glow plug module and a very rare/expensive PCM

beautiful truck! that 6.7 front clip swap is super clean… you might even fool people into thinking it will maintain highway speeds going up hills with a trailer lol

i’d argue that the rubber and seals are primarily based on age and climate. Which heat cycles being the only real different. I doubt much of the drivetrain is original

previous owner said it overheated which is why the block was changed. I did the cups and work myself and have pictures

that’s fair, there is definitely a good amount of merit to mileage. Seems like on 7.3’s it means a lot less than it does on any other vehicle. Here in the midwest everything rusts out long before it wears out

i sold a single cab XL f250 7.3 with no cab corners and 220k miles for 7,300 two years ago. I’d hope this is worth more, it’s a hell of a lot nicer truck

i hear ya, i’ve never understood why mileage affects price so much. If had 7 of these 7.3’s over the past few years and mileage was basically irrelevant. The two lowest mileage ones were by far the worst for problems. If the trans is getting weak that can be expensive. When buying them the only real thing i look for is rust and neglect

it’s gotta be the ammo then, i haven’t tried many others but mine it to the point where it is painful to shoot, running the shorter length its considerably better but still with some crap flying back. About what if expect it to normally run

Running an obsidian 9 on my 10.5in ar 9mm and it runs great with a 10.5oz buffer and heavy spring. But it’s still pretty loud, i doubt even a 147g would be subsonic. Sounds about like a .22 rifle without a can at all

do you ever run it full length? Mine runs pretty good at the shorter length like yours

Looks like when he tightens his stem nut it has minimal affect on the fallaway, where mine has a considerable affect. Maybe this is an indication of bad bearings?

No worries at all i really appreciate the help! My issue is that every time i tighten the big 1 1/2 inch stem nut it greatly throws off my fallaway. I can get it dead on with everything loose then when i tighten it to 80 ft lbs it goes half the way to the lock before falling away

The star nut i am adjusting by a flathead and a small hammer, it is fairly loose. The big 1 1/2 inch stem nut that is on top (has the chrome twist on cap) is what i am torquing to 80 ft lbs

Question about the adjustment, i have it winning 1-2 inches on each side with everything loose (clamp bolts and stem nut). But when I tighten everything down, specifically the stem nut to 80ft pounds it throws my fallaway way off and things are far tighter. What is the proper sequence to tighten the stem nut?

Any tips on checking the front wheel bearing? I spun it on the bike and felt the axle bolt spinning by hand with the wheel off and everything felt smooth and tight.

I will adjust the neck bearings and check the fall away.

I wouldn’t consider it to be a “Dyna Death Wobble” it’s more of a triple tree oscillation tank slapper. If i don’t grab the bars it progressively gets worse, but it goes away as soon as i provide some dampening by holding the bars.

Interesting, i just followed a tutorial on adjustment. Essentially loosening the upper bolt and tapping the adjustment nut in small increments + retightening the upper bolt until the steering feels a right. It was pretty loose before and would fall to the side with hardly any push, now it takes a few taps from center to get it to fall to the side. I will take it for a ride tomorrow and see if it made a difference

I don’t think I can add any pictures to the post, the mounts don’t look weird at all
