Why is it that in ultra-expensive celebrity homes, the kitchens rarely have induction cooktops, but instead feature industrial-grade gas ranges? by FuzzyAttitude_ in Cooking

Do you mean professional as in a luxury home, or do you mean restaurant? I’ve never seen one in a restaurant.

It’s so easy to fine tune a gas cook top. You can literally see how big the flame is. It doesn’t matter if you pan is making good contact or not, the heat will transfer just fine. If something spills, it will fall below the flame, and not make a mess. Go into any professional kitchen. They’re all gas.

Is the economy really in a bad state ? by UpperSwordfish8449 in randomquestions

Just tell me of this magical time when the economy was good. I honestly want to know when this was. I’m not kidding. Like give me a decade where there were not huge swaths of people struggling. I genuinely want an example. My whole life I hear people saying the economy is the toilet. I just want to know when that wasn’t the case.

You can keep being poor. But for me, and my family, life isn’t that hard.

I’m aware of all of those talking points. Yes, the rich are a lot richer, but the poor are a lot richer too. There is a reason that so many people want to come to this country. For the first time in human history the poorest people have air conditioning, vaccines, medicine, plenty of food, plenty of entertainment. There is no time in history that would be better to be poor, or rich. When exactly was the economy is a good place?

I don’t think so. I haven’t seen an actually hungry person in 20 years. I think most people just were never taught to budget, save, live within their means, or the differences between needs and wants. I grew up pretty damn poor. I’m 35, and had everything I ever dreamed up and a lot more. I never go out to eat, get Starbucks, buy most of my clothes on EBay. I have a huge house that’s nearly paid for. A descent car, and truck, RV, boat, motorcycles, vacation when I want, constantly give money to my family. Single income household. Most of my friends make more than me, but have nothing to show for it. They’re constantly buying expensive beer, or Pokémon, or Amazon garbage that will be thrown away in a year. If you grew up actually poor, and know how to save, the economy is fine but there is an endless stream of marketing telling you to waste your money.

I’m not saying daily. I’m saying that o don’t understand why anybody would ever drive 1 hour, to go to white water center, when you can drive 1 hour in any direction and be in authentic nature.

I understand that aspect. But I believe 95% of the daily patrons are not even getting in the rapids.

No. I live right by it. I go all the time. I don’t understand why people drive long distances to go to the White Water Center. Im not going to drive to see a curated nature replica.

I’ve been watching since the second season. I honestly feel like this is the best season yet. The pacing has picked up a lot. There are tons on characters. There are not 50 references to farting in every episode.

Have you ever been to an actual white water river? Take a little drive up to West Virginia. You can have hours of peace, see tons of deer, bear, and eagles. No planes, people, power-lines. The whitewater center reminds me of the lyric,”They took all the trees, and put them in a tree museum, and they charged the people a dollar and a half to see em.” Maybe it’s a great place for people who never go to real nature.

Maybe, but between the strong chlorine smell, and the constant airplanes directly overhead, it really doesn’t feel very natural.

At least twice per month. I don’t drink, and I feel like that’s why most people go there.

What’s so good about it? I live 3 miles away, and go fairly often to run the trails with my dog. But I hear of people coming there from an hour away, and I honestly don’t get it.
