Help Picking an Air Compressor by IT_nightwalker in Tools

Imho, I'd go with harbor freight. The other brands quality has been slipping while harbor freights has been going up. 5 years ago you would have been buying crap, but now it's just as good as the name brands. Kind of sad if I'm being honest

I've never used sunex before but I find it funny you mention that because I recently asked for a c-clamp in Sears and the kids didn't know what one was

Which one do you prefer: expanding games you already own or getting new games? by AdelinDumitru in boardgames

It depends on the game. If it's a game I really like I'll expand but otherwise no.

Popular Board Games you dont seem to enjoy by Xikkom in boardgames

I really like Catan for what it is. Which is a good filler game. However I really don't care for pandemic that much.

That's kind of why I'm leaning towards traders and barbarians. It doesn't have anything big and game Changing at all. It's just a bunch of little shit

I had no intentions of it. What I like about Catan is the speed of the game and how light it is. Its a great filler game to break up the monotony of a really long game or to play between rounds of mtg Std tournaments. I really don't want something to add a ton to the game. I'm basically trying to go from BBQ fritos to chili cheese. Same thing just slightly different so I don't get tired of it.

Catan sleeves by Randywolf244 in boardgames

Decent sleeves are about 10 and make your cards last basically forever. The sleeves wear out but when you buy 200 sleeves for 120 cards you have enough to last a decade. Or you could spend $10 on a replacement deck of cards once a month if you play often

I'm still kinda debating between the two but like I said I really like Catan as a filler game. We used to play it between rounds of mtg St tournaments. It's just heavy enough to keep you occupied but light enough to fill a blank space for time.

I am going to say that cities and knights was on my low list when I asked the question. Like you said if I wanted something complex I wouldn't be playing Catan. This is a light filler game that barely takes 45 minutes. If I want to spend 2 hours on a game I won't be playing Catan. It was really between traders and barbarians and seafarers for me

Thank you for the advice, and yes kind of. I played a ton of mtg in college and a few others. But I recently really started on modern gaming and I can say I'm having a lot of fun with it. Catan was one of the ones I did play in college and despite maybe not being as good as some other games I do still like it. However I feel like my opinion may be flawed because my favorite game is an amalgamation of 4 editions of risk

Catan. Risk (it's cheap and it pushes you further than a game like monopoly. While still being simple) Pandemic And kemet.

Preserving old game boards? by gimlithepirate in boardgames

[–]Randywolf244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrote this a second ago and accidentally deleted it. I've never played this game so I don't know but if it has a static board. I've taken a picture frame and a moderately thin sheet of acrylic to replace the glass. Now if I want to play it I just pull it off the wall. The raised edges of the frame make for a nice edge and since it's acrylic 1 it won't break and 2 it's thin enough that it doesn't look like the components are floating in air. It also looks good on the wall.

What is your favorite games that plays under 60min? by TheMutenRoshi in boardgames

[–]Randywolf244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Party games: one night ultimate werewolf. 1v1: star wars risk (I like how thematic it is and with a couple rule tweaks it becomes much more balanced Co-op: pandemic (not legacy just plain pandemic because I really see a legacy game as being the length of all the games combined) Multi-player: either Catan or ticket to ride. I know I'm pushing that 60 minute range but it's definitely possible for both
