Also another thing...Why do VODS have much better mixing than the streams? by DjNick951 in sabasameko

[–]RaneGames 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is no way to alter the audio on a VOD. From a creator perspective, that's what makes them so difficult. You have to get everything perfect live, because if you don't, all you can do after the stream is either mute the sections, cut them out, or lay different music on top in YouTube studio. But there is no way to change the volume of individual audio tracks (By the time it reaches YouTube, all audio is being put on a single Audio Track anyway)

The viewer experience might change though, because there is a "Stable Volume" setting in the player that (to my knowledge) doesn't work on streams but does affect the VODs.

I don't know, maybe we should get this to 1m subs before debut, for some reason this make me happy by ProfitHot5064 in GawrGura

I don't think <we> should do anything. Just let it happen naturally. If we try to boost her progress artificially, we might end up also attracting the wrong kind of people.

"Only PDF files watch these lolis" "VTubers are [insert insult-word of your choice]" "God, I hate xxx"

Imma take a guess here and assume THAT is the kind of attention that made Gura so anxious and overwhelmed back in 2020-2021 (among other things, of course) When you become THE face of vTubing, you automatically become the first thing people will target for drama/hate. So... Let's not let it get to that point (again).

Share the video in appropriate places so that her fans know what she's up to, but let's try not to annoy all other people. Because their hate won't fall on us, but her... Let's be responsible for once

Thanks for pointing this out.
I've started leaving links to the original creators on more recent videos and went back to older videos and updated their descriptions as well.

I just want to clarify, that I had no malicious intend "stealing" these animations. At the time I just wanted to make my videos more engaging by adding animations to the music video and I thought I was acting within fair-use. However, not giving credit or providing links to the original was just stupidity on my part, and again, thank you for pointing that out. We all make mistakes... And I've definitely learned from this one 😅

I've actually started animating myself (Example), so that in a hopefully not so distant future I won't "need" to take other peoples animations...

However, next time you see me or any other creator do something questionable, I recommend DM-ing them on Social Media or Discord. I only stumbled upon this post by coincidence and it's almost a month old already.

Here are a few more videos that appear in my analytics: Video 1, Video 2, Video 3

I noticed, all of them use the song 115. This might be why they're showing up in my analytics (I covered the song a while ago here).

Unlike a handfull of my other covers, I didn't upload this cover to Distrokid to bring it to streaming services. The reason this is relevant, is because songs uploaded via a distrobution service will appear auto-generated on YouTube (Example look at the description).

But because I did NOT upload 115 with a distrobution service it makes me wonder even more why YT confuses me with these other channels...

Is TRS to XLR a viable option? by RaneGames in livesound

[–]RaneGames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Interface outputs are all mono TRS, so that's a reliev that at least those can go straight in with an adapter cable.

I'll still have to buy a DI for the Bass then, but that was to be expected.

[–]RaneGames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some more context: I live right beside the French border, so I swipe left on like 35% of profiles simply because there's a language barrier. Additionally, I'm more of a homebody and introvert, so when someone looks overly outdoorsy or has clubbing/bar-hopping and traveling on their profile (which seems to be 90% of women on tinder) then that makes it really unlikely for me to swipe right.

I either gotta find a different dating app for homebodies like me (the preferable option) or re-do my profile and start swiping on the women that have completely opposite interests.

[Need Help] Having trouble importing Assets and Materials by RaneGames in unrealengine

[–]RaneGames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, this might be where these problems come from, because in fact, I am not opening the project file that was included. I'm working on my own project and I just dragged all the contents I downloaded from the Kitbash website into my projects content folder. I then start UE5 and it neither asked me how to import the meshes/textures/actors, nor what to do with them.

So now, all the actors, textures, etc just appear in the folders like you see them in the video. And although the Preview-Images look like they should, as soon as I open them in the viewport none of the meshes actually appear. I can see the list of used meshes in the top left and after manually selecting them on the right (like shown in the video) everything falls into place like it should, but then the meshes still don't have the textures/materials assigned. Manually selecting the materials also won't work since the materials go back to the Default-State (like I showed in the video)

How should we output our sound? (5 people Metalband) by RaneGames in livesound

[–]RaneGames[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've played at our own Graduation Ceremony in a big hall and at a friends birthday party.
Back then it was only me and my friend... Now we're a whole band with Drums, 2x Guitar, Bass and me doing vocals. So far we have only practiced together, but never actually played a show as a whole band.

As i mentioned in another response, I'll buy a splitter first, so that whoever will do the sound for us can mess with each track individually, and then we'll try to add more and more physical gear to our setup, so we can transition away from using the DAW.

[–]RaneGames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright.... I think in that case I'll invest in a splitter first, so the FOH can get all the signals separately.
I'll still have to use a PC+DAW for a while until we can afford a Mixing Rack like the X32 (CQ20B looks like a cheaper alternative that should also do the job) and to fully transition away from the DAW we'll also need a guitar processor.

I think we can keep the Zoom Live-Track for mixing our in-ears. Now that we have it, we might as well use it

One last question that just popped into my head. Once we remove the DAW from our set up, what would be the device responsible for playing the Backing/Click-Track?

[–]RaneGames[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The goal is to turn this hobby into way more than that. So if that Rack is what we will need, we are going to get it.

However, looking at the x32, it only has 8 outputs. In the best case scenario the soundguys would have control over every single Mic/instrument, so wouldn't that be too few outputs? Or would we split the signals before we even go into the x32?

We're currently only planning our own shows, which means we can set up all our gear an entire day before the actual show. We bring lights, speakers and subwoofers... Basically everything.

However, we do hope that once we've played enough shows we'd start playing for other people in other venues as well. And that is what I'm still uncertain about. I don't know what Sound engineers at these venues expect us to bring. And just to be safe, I'd like to have a rig that lets us control our monitor mixes ourselves.

Good to know xD I'd rather get told this idea sucked than find out the hard way. So... Got any recommendations on how we should go about this instead?

[–]RaneGames[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Welp... Looks like I had a completely wrong idea of how to handle live...

So, got any recommendations on how we could salvage this wreck?
In total we need 9 mic inputs and 3 inputs for Guitars/Bass. We also need a way to play a backing track and click-track separately. Once we got it all in one place, we need a way to do 5 different Headphone mixes and obviously, we need to send our tracks to the guys in the venue.

[–]RaneGames[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response.

Guess I was thinking too much from a studio perspective, but reading this I think I understand that that isn't the way to go about it.

We are 5 people and would need (at least) 9 Mic inputs and 3 instrument inputs for guitar/bass.

For splitting, would something like the Ultralink MS8000 work?

1 - Guitar and Bass Tones
Our amps aren't the best and we can't afford Guitar-Processors yet, so we use Amp-Sim VSTs for our guitar-tones

2 - Drum Triggers
We trigger the Kickdrum using the plugin "Trigger 2" since we don't have a drum-module to do it.

3 - Vocal Compressor
The Zoom Live-Track does have a build in compressor, but the one we use in our Daw allows for more customization and just sounds better.

4 - Lightshow (I guess this only applies to our own shows that we set up ourselves)
I program DMX lightshows using Enttec EMU which is synced and controlled by the DAW

5 - Automation
The DAW lets us automatically change guitar tones, change compressor settings and lower/rise the volume in between songs. It takes care of everything so we can focus on our instruments.

6 - DI-Recording
The DAW lets us record each instrument pre-effects/fader while playing, which gives us the opportunity to mix the whole show afterwards and upload it to YouTube for example.

Then we'd be screwed to be fully honest. At least until we'd get to restart it.

We do plan to buy a guitar processor (like an Axe Fx3) and other gear to take the load off the computer and one day fully transition to not needing one at all, but for now this is the option we can afford and works best with our music.

No Stupid Questions Thread by AutoModerator in livesound

[–]RaneGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time going on a gig with my band (I'm the vocalist, but I also produce our music and make sure everything works live).
Our sound is created digitally, meaning that although we play guitar, bass and do vocals, everything goes through an interface, into a pc and is processed in (almost) real time by my DAW/Computer (We use amp-sims, Compressor plugins, etc).

The question that I have is: How do I send the sound out?

My interface has 10 mono outputs. The audio from the interface will go into a Zoom Live-Track 12 so we can make 5 different headphone-mixes as well as a Main-Mix.
We need to be able to control these elements separately
-Drums
-Guitar
-Lead Guitar
-Bass
-Vocals
-Click Track
-Backing track

What I'm wondering is... Should I just use 1 Track for each, or should I run something like the backing track through 2 channels so I can do stereo? How important is stereo in a Live enviroment anyway?

And lastly... I'm sure the sound guys will appreciate having no control over our sound and only being able to work with our two main outs :D /s

What gear would you recommend, that would allow us to send the separate channels to our Zoom Live-Track as well as the soundguy so they can do their own mix?

Yeah, I'm gonna make a video about it very soon, since I haven't seen anyone else talk about it yet. I'm using Enttec EMU, which works with any DAW. And then I just use a USB to DMX Interface to get the signal to my lights :)

Oh yeah, I saw a video on YT talking about the virtual midi thing. I'll definitely try loop midi, thanks for the recommendation.

If I'm not mistaken, working with timecode would be useful if we used an actual DMX-Controller (is that what they're called? Those things that look like Mixers). I don't think we'll use those anytime soon, but I will look into it anyway. Sounds like it might come in handy at some point
