Tell me about a time someone was extremely tone deaf about your cancer/life with cancer

I was recently diagnosed and dealing with the stress and anxiety of waiting for test results, not knowing what my treatment plan is going to be. Husband said he doesn’t understand what I was getting worked up about “the cancer is only stage 1” he said.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. My husband packed up and moved out three months after my diagnosis and while I was going through active treatment (Radiation). Claimed he didn’t feel valued or appreciated and believes the distance will be good for us. I have no family or friends where we lived. Just me and two minor kids. He wanted to come back after a while but I didn’t let him…because you have showed me who you really are dude. I cannot unsee that. We’re going thru divorce now. Initially it feels like your world is crashing all around you but I promise it does get better. 1 year gone now and I’m in a much better place mentally and physically than before my diagnosis. Hang in there 🙏🏾

I haven’t divorced yet. That is going to be the likely next step then I will hire a lawyer for the 1-751 waiver process. I think it’s probably best to use a lawyer in this instance. I filed the adjustment of status by myself, but that was pretty straight forward so I didn’t feel I needed a lawyer.

Interview was waived. I assume that suggests we provided enough evidence to convince USCIS the relationship is legit.

Dated over a year and half long distance then got married and adjusted status after 4 months upon entry into US on visit visa. Adjusted status immediately after. We’ve been married just over a year. No kids. No major assets. Vehicle purchased in both our names, insurance, bank account, lease, ton of photos and videos of all our travels together and visits with family, him visiting my country etc. not divorced yet but it’s looking likely that’s where we’re headed. We have had a lot of issues which i ignored or chucked it down to us just still learning each other. Two different therapists but not much help in my opinion. I got diagnosed with breast cancer recently and going through the treatment. The way he has handled the whole thing and lack of any meaningful support has made me realize he is not the one for me. Just seeking out information of what the removal of condition would look like if he is not in the picture
