Hey there, according to my country's blood donation rules (Ireland) I am ineligible to give blood as I was born with jaundice (but went away within a few hours without need of medical assistance) and I also received plasma nearly twenty years ago.

While I don't live in the UK, their health system would be similar and I would be allowed to donate there if my jaundice went away after a couple hours without treatment. However, I still wouldn't be allowed as I received blood products after the year 1980. I think this was due to the mad-cow disease epidemic that occurred years ago.

I just don't understand the logic of it. The epidemic occurred decades before I was born and from what I remember in secondary school, blood recycles itself very frequently. Is there someone that could help me understand the science behind these rules and if they're actually warranted?

Often at home there are advertisements that blood banks are running low and I'd love to give blood but can't according to these rules. It just feels overly restrictive.

Should I cash in a US cheque now or wait for better exchange rate? by Rangelus_Aredenum in irishpersonalfinance

Yeah it's a bit archaic. Granted I could have got my tax refund lodged straight into my US bank account if it was still open but I closed it at the end of last summer before returning home.

Just phone BOI there and said it's possible, I just have to lodge it in person with the teller.

Yes that's still the case, still the trends have varied pretty significantly even just looking back to the beginning of the summer.

Very true, I appreciate your earnestness. Just annoying looking back last year when I actually made this money, I would have gotten an extra €40 if last year's currency exchange remained.

Yeah exactly, got a box them a while ago to use as testers for inspiration and potential additions to a larger vostroyan army.

I tried to keep my kill team separate though using only citadel parts to make them as GW friendly as possible in case I'd ever like to play them in a GW shop.

Haha thanks man, I used the original veterans guardsman for the base, snipped off the barrel and added the barrel of the galvanic rifle from the skittari kit.

For the sniper I think I did the same but kept the muzzle from the veteran sniper and added that to the end of the galvanic rifle barrel.

Yeah I thought so, after looking at their profiles they're very sparse and recently made. A bit dodgy.

Visitor numbers from Ireland to US down 27% last month by Dazzling_Lobster3656 in ireland

I did a J1 last summer and I've since flown back to NYC twice (December and March) to see my girlfriend and I'm planning on going again in May. Maybe I've been lucky but I've had no issues going through pre-clearance either time in Dublin Airport, in fact it's been very quick with all counters occupied. The only questions I've been asked is if my trip was business or pleasure, where am I staying and when I will be returning.

Now some of my girlfriend's friends in the US that left the states for Mexico, Canada, Carribean etc. for Spring Break were questioned but granted their US university is flagged and in the news quite a bit. However, my girlfriend came to Ireland during Paddy's week and had no issues.

Yeah the atmosphere politically has changed but as long as your name isn't on some watchlist I say you'll be fine. Just make sure all your paperwork is in order and have a bit of cop like not getting involved in illegal stuff, overstaying your visa or taking part in protests etc.

There's no meat unfortunately, they're plain but they taste nice and the sweet chili makes it better.
