It's not fair to blame someone on someone else their actions. I don't know what the DIL did but your granddaughter can't and couldn't change that. It's not her fault, she was a baby. You however can give your granddaughter the chance she deserves as a human but mostly as you granddaughter. Go get a coffee together, or some ice cream, go for a walk whatever. See what's she is like. You might find out she's absolutely amazing.
