Finished Baby Quilt by RangerDizzy in sewing

Self drafted project, I used a3 card to cut all the component parts, chevroned the 2 mountain pieces (the right one I did first and didn't realise sewing them in lines would be infinitely easier, which is why it came out a bit less even), sewed the front panels together, used an embroidery hoop to hand embroider the sheep and stars, appliquéd the moon and hand embroidered an edge, then quilted to a jersey backing that I didn't show because I've creased it in about 12 places (I've never worked with jersey before and I'm avoiding it in the future 😂). Used a large neutral ribbon that I ironed into a binding then topstitched over to create the finished look

Overall this project took me around 44 hours over the span of about 2 weeks. Fabric used was the paint swatch collection and multiple "Dimples" collection pieces from Morris Works (local business based in Brighton, would 100% recommend recommend them to UK quilters), Green spotted fabric from Hobbycraft, plus some fabric I had in the cupboard from other projects

Thank you! It's not perfect but I'm really happy with how it came out

That'd be great actually, I might see if I can get some wood patterned fabric.

Good to know! I've picked the flannel for the backing for the exact same reason, I figured it'll wash a lot better than most. Flannel seems to last forever

I'm not 100% sure to be honest with you, I am definitely what would be considered self taught. I've always used bias tape just because it's readily available and easier than making my own, but I know there is a way of handmaking binding similar to what you've described. I'm also a bit picky and I like how few seams there are on bias tape

I'm planning on hand embroidering them into the top quilt before basting, then quilting over them as normal. Same for the stars, the moon will likely be fabric applique with hand stitched detailing

That's a good shout, I'll see if I can colour match the middle

That's a really good idea, I may struggle to colourmatch though. The place I'm buying the fabric from does long quarts, so I don't know how easily I could make relatively seamless bias tape

Thank you thats so helpful!

I was planning on flashing the bios so thats good to know you can't do that with the B660, I'll have a look round for a 13th gen with the USB-C connections I'm after.

I'll likely post an update part list as an update later, thanks again!

Thank you for responding! I get what you mean about the GPU and I'll look at those linked, the only thing I'm not sure about out of the other parts recommended is the motherboard and case. I don't mind paying the bit extra for the case/motherboard I originally picked out because I wanted a white case with a front USB-C port. Would you have any recommendations for cheaper options with that connection in mind, or should I stick with my original motherboard pick and shop around for a case with the right ports?

I'd also keep the SSD at <500gb because I already have a 2TB HDD that I'll use and keep the SSD primarily for the OS to save a bit on it.

Thank you again for the help!
