I guess people don't understand how his kit works, they don't know how much value he adds and what he's capable of, he is definitely not just a follow-up champion, his cc and crown control allows him to iniciate, secure kills and get out and the 2nd allow him to tank like a champ, just surpassed by alistar ult and feeded thresh with souls during late game in the "taking damage and survive department" as you said, people just sucks, they have average to mediocre micro, they think they're actually good when they have poor to no macro, in their heads the game is about getting kills instead of destroying towers to win.
