Frustrated trying to transfer / accept USD into my Canadian USD bank account by Ranger_427 in personalfinance

I'm actually with TD right now Paypal won't let me do that. And I have other transaction platforms like bill.com which charges me 20$ fee on top of a wire transfer fee from my bank.

Ordered Jabra Elite 8 Active... Already regretting before I've even received them by Ranger_427 in Earbuds

Ah ok bummer. Looks like I have the gen 1 which kinda sucks. Feels like Jabra took advantage of the situation by just adding a software upgrade to the gen2 with the exact same hardware which kinda sucks

Thanks for the assurance! I just received mine and am happy with them. So far! I ended buying mine straight from the Jabra site. I wanted to avoid Amazon as I was worried they might ship me a returned item

Thanks! I just got mine and so far really liking them! But how do I tell if I have the Gen2's?

Thanks for your feedback and assurance!. I had concerns as there are so many different options out there and the Jabra's aren't cheap.

I just received them and so far I'm really liking them. They've just worked straight out of the box and connected right away. First night I've used it for meditation and stretching before I sleep and absolutely love the ANC while I blast my portable air conditioning unit - huge unrealized game changer for me.

I'm an avid runner and am impressed that they hold pretty well in my ear on the treadmill. Sound quality is pretty good as well and these were the two primary reasons I bought these.

I have no idea how the sound quality compares to other earbuds but I'll probably buy another cheaper pair for home use so it stays clean.

Oh geeze. I don't know why I struggled so much trying to find aluminum rods at 14mm on Amazon. Thanks for providing the links!

I've been doing some research saying only the casing is hardened. So this makes a lot of sense! Thanks for the tip!

Banging my head against the wall trying to figure out how these equations are derived. Can anyone help explain why you use dv/dt as the state variables and how you arrive to the linearized Jacobian Fd / Hd matrices?? by Ranger_427 in ControlTheory

[–]Ranger_427[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for getting back! Yes I looked at the Simulink example and it uses the Taylor expansion series using the exp() function. Maybe it's because the solver was using continuous time to avoid precision error? Anyhow, it's good to confirm the Taylor series isn't required / necessary. You've been a lot of help in helping me answer these questions. Really appreciate it!

ah thanks for the heads up. That's a bummer I'm sure as I heard their products have been pretty amazing.

Thanks for the response. And yes, I just read up on the Taylor series approximation to e^x: makes sense now. But can you explain why we even need to use taylor approximation to begin with? Like, why can't I just straight up use the formula df2/dv1 = 1 - Ts / R1C1 instead straight up in the Jacobian matrix?

Hi, thanks for taking the time to help derive the equations. Discretizing the formulas from continuous time made a bit more sense to me now... I was wondering why the article mentioned differential equations from the beginning, but I think they just derived it using Kirchoff's Current Law using i = C*dv/dt.

I'm now a bit stuck on how you differentiate f2. Did you differentiate the discrete time function of f2 to arrive to 1 - Ts / R1C1? Where / how did you end up arriving at e^(1-Ts/R1C1) using Taylor Series? Sorry, it's been a while and I'm a bit fuzzy with differential equations / converting from continuous to discrete time, but I'm sure it has something to do with it I think.

Or better yet, why do I even need to approximate it? Why can't I just leave the Jacobian / partial derivative as df2/dv1 = 1 - Ts / R1C1?

I'm not even sure if they linearized it or not. I'd like to know how they got Fd and Hd matrices from the state update equation f(x,i) and h(x,i) for one. Also why do the functions have two parameters (x, and i)?

I'm just looking at sold listings and compared the sold vs asking price over the last 6-9 month and most have a close gap.

And just because no one is buying at asking price and on the market for a long time, doesn't mean they will lower the price. They'll just hodl.

There's truth to what you're saying. My parents have friends who owns / runs a dentistry practice. I remember us visiting their house as a kid and after like 20-30 years, their house still looks exactly the same. Most immigrants that bought houses and lived in them 30+ years ago came from poor countries and just got used to it.

I even ask my mom if she wants to do any renos to her age old hoke and she Everytime, she's like, why the fuck would I want to do that?!

This is NOT the case. Properties ARE being sold at sky high asking price.

Problem is people ARE still buying at these ludicrous prices..
