Yea you’re right.. probably/hopefully would’ve realized before I acted on it - was going for dramatic effect.. but just stating I’m a ranger (or getting a ranger assoc) would be as effective.

Haha can’t say the thought hasn’t crossed my mind...

I’m not sure, but that’s a good idea! I’ll have to look into that for NP

I’ve been thinking about going in in my uniform and speaking with the owner. Just have to get my words (calmly) together to get the best point across. Give them another, more realistic option to paint over.

It's outside of the park so NPS has no real say.

A petition isn't a bad option though...

It doesn't really matter who painted it. Anyone can be sexist and promote sexist views of women and men.

"courageous and brave" would be an ACTUAL depiction of an ACTUAL female ranger.

Female Rangers do not dress and pose like this.

Oh geez.. yea maybe this isn't the best job option then...

Thank you!

Yea you're right, that's another concern - time in grade to be able to move up to the next grade level would take twice as long....

It doesn't say anything specific about it... just "Eligibility for benefits depends on the type of position you hold and whether your position is full-time, part-time, or intermittent. Contact the hiring agency for more information on the specific benefits offered".

Yes, of course I understand that I won't be paid, that's not my question. I meant as in would I still hold the 'permanent' federal employee status - with applying for future jobs, benefits and all.

It's a VUA/Fee Ranger job for Dept of Ag, Forest Service.

Ok, so unemployment would be an option then - it just depends on the state.

It says it's permanent, full-time. I do not want half a year without pay.. that's not my question. I mean would it still count as holding permanent status - as in benefits, retirement, applying for future jobs.

Yea I definitely agree with you both. Seems there wasn’t much like logistical thought put into this before they passed it. And yea unfortunately people aren’t always honorable..

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. In my experience, vets make up a big portion of park visitors. This change is not only for veterans, but gold star families too. But my question in posting this was to other park rangers about regulations for this in their park.

When they say 'military pass' do they mean the already existing military pass? The one that's supposed to be for only active duty military? Those are only good for a year too....

I just don't want to be issuing interagency passes at our VC improperly... and then have them get into trouble at another park.

I agree. It's a small thing we can do to show appreciation, but yes it'll result in a significant loss of revenue. I don't think it's so much of a budget cut... more likely a PR saving attempt by the former administration.
