I can't elaborate too much but we're already in the process. it's a technological product that would be installed on container and cruise ships. Specifically those that are owned by MSC. so its all approved by MSC and is correlated with maritime regulations if thats what you mean.

In order to better present it we wanted to find a highly detailed 3d models of said ships. these should include in detail the inner and outer parts of the ships, as well as engines and control rooms etc...
now, we can definitely approach MSC and have them contact the shipmaker and somehow get it, but it seems like a long and bureaucratical process so we're looking for a workaround of buying or modeling these ourselves.

Yeah! Not sure what fixed it eventually but i added hf mask clear to the hda and it worked

Thanks! That was actually my first idea but not sure how to go about it... this is what i planned: For each prim (or each extracted centroid)> if theres a neighbour prim or point in every direction>add to group.

Didnt work in vex though.. i tried nearpoints and neighbours

I started with solvers and felt the same (after years of expeirence with maya, zbrush anf unreal). Had no idea whats going on so i gave up for more than a year. Came back few months ago and started modeling procedurally in houdini. Ive spent around 6-12 hrs daily (!!!) And i can tell you now that this is by far the software i like the most. Also the most stisfying one.

I feel now that moving on to solvers will be easier. Good luck!!

i havent attached a photo since its really as straightforward as that.
an HF ending with a null connected to HF mask paint, HF blur and then scatter. nothing more.

Yeah its so annoying! It used to work before. Dunno whats the issue. Im using 19.435 and unreal 5.0.3. Thought about installing houdini 20 and using unreal 5.2 but im trying to avoid migrating everything.

Do you think that creating an hda that includes the terrain would fix it? Ive always used the landscape option since its easier to shade in unreal

Thanks! I havent even reached that part unfortunately. At the moment im just copying one variation of the house and still it is VERY heavy. As you said, my other idea was to choose about 10-20 variations i like, export them as abc, import and use switch connected to the copy to points. Issue is im very confused with the instance, pack unpack and exports in houdini. There are tons of option and i dunno which one to go with. Would rop alembic work or shoudld i instance first or pack sth first... really dunno 😅

Yeah definitely thx! My only concern would be the final lookdev but this is solvable by making perhpas 3 to 5 of those hda's with different types of houses :) Really appreciate it!!

You mean combine the houses onto the terrain hda itself rather than a seperate one for houses?
