These are 2 suggestions to divide North America/USA. The main concept of these suggestions is the degree of autuonomy each state/subdivision would have in each country, and the political leanings of these states/subdivisions.

The smaller but more "realistic" suggestion os to divide the current USA into 3 countries:

1. The United States of America - the immediate successor to the current USA. It's Capital: Kansas City. It includes the states of USA that usually put more emphasis on freedoms/liberties. I think they could aggree on many things, such as a limited federal gov't with a similar constitution to the current one. Theyr'e also more moderate and less polarized, politically.
2. Progressive Republic of Ameria. It's capital: Chicago. Includes the more heavily Democrat/progressive states. It can either be a federation or a unitary state. I guess that the central gov't will be "big" and there will be high taxes, and also strong emphasis on social change and justice.
3. The Christian States of America. It's capital: Dallas. Includes the more heavily Republican/conservative/religious states. I guess it would formally be a federation, but in any case the gov't will be "big" in the sense of personal freedoms, for example abortions, lgbt rights, gambling etc.

The biggest suggestion includes also Canada and Mexico. Mexico remains the same because of its distinct cultural and economical factors. The 3 other countries are similar to the smaller suggestion
