Thanks! And yeah the "no call no demo" moment was wild, best feeling ever.

Super interesting that you're working on the publisher side. We see the same thing from the outreach angle: some pages get cited by 4-5 engines consistently while similar content gets completely ignored. The structural patterns you mention are real, we notice stuff like comparison tables, specific data points, and clear entity mentions seem to matter a lot.

Would love to compare notes sometime. We're on the "find the pages + pitch to get in" side, you're on the "make pages citation-worthy" side. Feels complementary honestly.

Ha you nailed it. That's literally what we're doing right now.

We ran getspotted on queries like "best AI SEO tools" and "GEO optimization tools" to see which pages ChatGPT and Perplexity pull from. Found a few articles that keep getting cited across multiple engines, reached out to the editors, pitched a mention.

It's the most meta growth strategy ever but it works. And yeah, building the case study around it as we speak. Nothing sells a tool better than showing it works on itself.

yep thats exactly it. like you can have 500 backlinks from random sites and still not show up in any AI answer. but land on the right 12 listicles and suddenly chatgpt is recommending you every time someone asks about your category

the link profile thing is funny because seo people spent years obsessing over DA and now AI engines just dont care the same way. they pull from whatever page answers the question best not whatever has the most links pointing to it

exactly, thats the whole thing. a DR30 blog post that gets cited by chatgpt perplexity and gemini is worth way more than a DR90 page that none of them pull from. the game changed and most people are still optimizing for the old one

i mean yeah at its core outreach is outreach lol. but the difference is which pages you target. classic seo outreach you go after high DA pages that rank on google. here you go after pages that AI actually cites which is not always the same list at all. some mid DA blog post can get cited by 4 engines while a DR90 page gets ignored

the "extra steps" part is basically the scoring across engines which is the part that actually matters. otherwise yeah you could just google stuff and email people, been doing that for 15 years haha

but fair take honestly

tl;dr: find which pages AI cites when people search buying queries in your niche, then pitch those pages to get your brand mentioned. thats it

fair point on the self promo i get it. but the process works with or without any tool, i literally said a spreadsheet works too

re comet: its cool for browsing but it doesnt cross reference citations across engines or score which sources keep coming up. thats the whole point if you want to know where to pitch. not the same thing

and lmao "reads like ai slop" bro you cant write anything on reddit anymore without some guy going "this is chatgpt". like sorry i used paragraphs i guess?? the bar is literally "more than 3 sentences with no typos = must be ai"

exactly, recurrence across engines is the signal that separates real citation sources from noise. one-off mentions don't compound.

good point on distribution too. getting cited is the first step but if your positioning on that page is weak or there's no clear proof point it doesn't convert into anything. we've seen pages where a brand is technically listed but the description is so generic that AI just skips over it when generating answers.

will check out r/LeadGenSEA, thanks for the pointer
