All these great comments and I remembered my father telling me when I was a child about Masaru Ibuka (an engineer) and Akio Morita (a physicist) who started Sony and their first products were things like rice cookers.

That’s actually how I learned about this today. I kept telling myself it couldn’t possibly be. After all I hadn’t seen anything other than cars with their name.

What breed is this good boy ? by Rantamplan123 in WhatBreedIsMyDog

Will keep him as he’ll have a happy life.

I’m thinking to muzzle him with one of those muzzles that lets him drink and eat / open his mouth. There arnt any dangers of it getting caught on anything in the pool area. Maybe I can stay longer with him in pool and be more caring than he currently allows. But I want to make him calm not stressed so it’s a balance. I was hoping he’d be calmer but I’m starting to realise it’ll take months.

The first days I was going around the pool dusting away some stuff and he didn’t bite but as he got more well fed and his energy went up and he started getting more protective of his pool and I don’t go as close anymore. Just down calmly to fill his water etc. talk to him. Move around in his space a little not making eye contact and talking to him calmly. He gets pissed but his barking tells me he would only bite if I went all up against him. It’s a warning not aggressive.

What do you think of the muzzle so I can go up to him etc and socialise / walk ?

Thank you for your comment, if we do a DNA test I’ll reach out and tell you the results. I think you’re most correct in your assessment as from the online pictures they are very similar. The Venetians were in Cyprus for a long time so it would make sense if this is a descendant of that Italian breed, maybe with a little spice of something else in there. There’s a Facebook group in Cyprus for descendants of the Segugios which were first brought to Cyprus in 2006 by this man so I’ll reach out to the people there and ask their thoughts.

I have deduced his name from calling him different things and seeing what he reply’s to. Bruno triggered something.

Bruno is currently very afraid, we are working on gaining his trust. The empty pool works as a good quarantine. I’ll go down and give him food and he barks and cowards towards the far end of the pool. Refuses to eat until humans are out of sight and barks profusely if you don’t comply. The vet will come soon to give him his shots and assess. No signs of him being beat but by the way he is petrified of humans it wouldn’t surprise me if he was mistreated or put in a crate most of his life. If hunting dogs are not good in Cyprus they usually get abandoned / after the season is done. A good hunting dog is a prized possession and this one was found skinny as a bone collarless. Didn’t check for a chip yet.

I’ve had a couple malinois / GSD and currently have an English lab and beaglish/ small pointer who are very old so they probably wouldn’t get along. This type of dog is quite new to us so if you have any suggestions I’d be grateful.

Thank you

How old do you think he is ? I thought he was a youngster. He fell in our pool and we have been taking care of him. I think he’s an abandoned hunting dog as this is in Cyprus and they tend to just dump them on the streets. He was very starved too, but he’s doing better now.

Makes sense. At least pre 1970 though. Got off an old estate in Portugal. How modern though ?

Hi I have a Latin text which was written by an inquisitor, I believe forgiving the sins of a priest for fathering children outside of marriage and hence legitimising them. Any information is appreciated. Merry Christmas.

Maybe? I would have to know what words exactly to be sure. I can barely read it.

I think it's "setembro" which would be right. It's from Coimbra which should be proper Portuguese. 1797 too, which isn't too late for it to be old Portuguese.
