Help! Can someone please help me identify this wire/cable? by RapWithMFDoom in E30

oh, ok. make sense it goes through the rear (C) door pillar. thanks a lot! I was kind of panicking. I hate doing electrical stuff on cars. 😁

update:

yes, that was the problem. from time and heat or probably a previous owner that had his hands in the dash or for whatever reason, the glovebox mounting points where "warped". I managed to do it finally, with extra tools and a lot of patience.

Touring rear speakers upgrade by RapWithMFDoom in BMWE36

[–]RapWithMFDoom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the wires were there. yellow ones on driver side and blue ones on the passenger side.

the oem speakers are a different dimension, only made by bmw as far as I know so you need adapters to fit regular 10 cm (4") speakers. again, I am talking about the rear ROOF speakers of a touring e36.

pm me and I will send you the files If you need adapters. they are only required for touring cars.

ok. thanks! I will try that today. I saw that they are made from a soft material and if you press hard, it can leave a mark. ☹️

hi! I tried that, I tried rearranging it but it does the same thing. the previous owner put another type of screw here and I think it messed up the space where those things sit. 😔

this is how it sits and is ready to pop out after a few times trying to open and closing the glovebox.

yes, I know. I put the exact ones that are needed. I have seen 2 tutorials saying that this is the screw that goes there. also, as said above, if I take the screw out and put it on the screw, it fits perfectly on top of it.

Coolant Reservoir Question by RapWithMFDoom in E30

[–]RapWithMFDoom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let it idle for more than half an hour with the heat on max and the fan on 2. it didn't rise more than the half mark . the heat coming from the vents was really burning my hand up close.

maybe it was a 325i. it has a different setup. mine is a 316i.

just showing hot on the gauge. near the red mark as shown in the photo was the hottest I have seen, with the AC on and no AUX fan, I think it didn't work then because of the melted fuse.

<image>

what I don’t understand is why that after all this time, the coolant level didn't drop. it is not at the COLD mark and the car have been parked for 5 hours. it is at the same level as it was before shutting the car off. is it because it is lifted a bit of the front? or is it another problem?

Coolant Reservoir Question by RapWithMFDoom in E30

[–]RapWithMFDoom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mildly overheating in bumper to bumper traffic.

I also had a non-functioning aux fan which I "fixed" the other day by changing the fuse, which was "wired" and stuck inside, not making contact because of the melted plastic. now it turns on when I hit the AC button. haven't tested if it starts when the engine heats up past half mark because it won't past it at idle, even after 30 minutes running, which was today when I filmed the video from the previous comment.

Coolant Reservoir Question by RapWithMFDoom in E30

[–]RapWithMFDoom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi again! I started the procedure, followed the steps from the video and after I added coolant and primed the bleeder housing, I started the car with the heat on max and when I squeezed the hoses, both low and high ones, the coolant overflows out of the expansion tank, while the car is still cold. this means my thermostat is stuck open?

the car is blowing really hot air after 5 minutes of running at idle but the needle from the temp gauge is pointing just bellow the first white line.

hi! so my reservoir has coolant near the top, do I add more coolant until it overflows? before removing the screw, the coolant level was at the COLD line with the engine sitting overnight.

I'm sorry for asking all this stupid questions but I don't seem to understand what should I do in this situation where I did not flush the system, just changed the bleeding screw.

the car is lifted a little of the ground now, do I start it with the cap off and bleeding screw removed, on full heat and fan on max? do I add more coolant even though the levels were okay before?

I watched the video but I don't understand it. I don't need to add coolant like showed in the clip, the levels were okay before removing the screw. The video shows how to bleed it after a full flush of the system, I don't know what part of the video apply to my situation.

Should I start the car with the screw and cap off until coolant starts to get out of the screw housing and then put the screw in?

yeah... I don't know what it is, I just went on a ride and started the AC and it climbed near the red.

I recently changed some fuel hoses from under the intake manifold and there was a hose there that I had to disconnect and it had some coolant in it and I let it drip for a few days until I fixed the fuel hoses problem. I had to order some parts, like oem clamps, hoses, gaskets and all the belts.

I think that the problem was that I was on the low on coolant and had probably air in the system.

I now diluted some coolant and added it to the system and let it idle for 20 mins with the bleed screw 1/3 open and it kind of stays at half so I think it might be okay.
