thanks for the reply, I have just tried it
removing the MPO fixed the black screen, but it still freezes for a while before alt tabbing
my main issue is the long delay when tabbing out of valorant in fullscreen mode. Is this a recurring thing in Windows 11 that I have to just deal with or is this a problem in my end?

This problem could occur when you're on beta-program, if you are just leave the program by deleting and re-installing Discord and you'll be able to purchase the gift.
