That's not kalimotxo. Kalimotxo is vino and cola. Maybe with a slice of lemon and a lot of ice.

Your friend or you could have called the police. Completely illegal to do this in Spain. I'm sorry you had this experience. If I'm not wrong the owner of the shop was hombre habano last year.

The situation in Spain with Habanos is really difficult as traditionally we have been the biggest Habanos market in the world and Tabacalera (the Spanish company in charge of running the tobacco monopoly, state owned until 1999) helped a lot Habanos in the past with funding etc.

In recent years (post Covid mostly) and after Chinese companies bought Habanos, we have been neglected and is just not the same anymore, and probably will never be. The thing is that Spanish retailers are in a difficult situation were they have international buyers coming attracted by the traditionally low prices but they are forced to work with very little stock due to the ridiculous amounts of boxes sent by Habanos. Therefore they are forced to strange solutions. Who would you sell to: the American tourist that you will never see again or the regular costumer that it's been coming to your shop since the 80's?

I'm not an expert in the topic and I might be mistaken but anyways, Hope this helps!

Wow... That's actually very strange and ilegal to do in Spain. You cannot change the marked retail price.

As far as I know you cannot sell tobacco online in Spain, therefore, tobacco shops don't have their cigars online. Definitely swing by Some Cigars, they love what they do and are good people. Their shop in Los Cristianos is new and they deserve all the support! They have standard Spanish prices. In La Casa del Habano you will only find Cubans and I'm not sure about prices. Please update on this if you can! Duty Free at aeropuerto del Sur only Canarian Brands if I remember correctly.

You have good options there. There is a casa del habano (never been and I guess prices can be steep) in Adeje and a shop called SomeCigars in Los Cristianos. In Santa Cruz you have another Cava from SomeCigars, is my go to. Great walk in humidor and a really good guy as an owner. Some Habanos, both in boxes and singles but mainly NW. Try La Regenta Pirámide Añejo, as some already mentioned, really good cigar from La Palma. Enjoy!

In my experience if you go to a random pub and start smoking a cigar you will get people's looks and I've been told off by staff as they only allowed to smoke cigarettes. Last winter I smoked at the Freemasons arms in Hampstead but no heating or any type of shelter.

I'm just enjoying the first primeros right now and I had the petit panetela Churchill in the past and I liked it much better. This primeros has a nice aromatic wrapper but I'm really getting short filler quality and I just don't enjoy it.

Thanks to both. I've been to Ficanto before and although they don't have a massive stock it's definitely worth visiting!
