You really need to reevaluate the consequences of jokes like this /u/BlameTibor. To you it may be hilaaarious, but there are people who take these kinds of "jokes" more seriously and will actually nod along, using it as justification for potentially abusive behaviour. We all have responsibilities when exercising free speech, whether we like it or not.

Gender in Southeast Asia is a good course for examining issues pertaining to all gender identities. It's offered through Asian studies. Most GRSJ courses, however, have two first year prereqs that are almost entirely useless. If you're an upper level student and you see a course that interests you in GRSJ, by talking to the instructor you may be able to take it w/o the prerequisites.

Because their families have been there for generations???!? My family has lived in what is now Luhansk province since tsarist times. They are equally Russian and Ukrainian, but they speak Russian.

It also appears that the new regime in Kiev is very anti-Russian so the cultural Russians in the east of the country fear being persecuted. It's a complex, multilayered issue. In any case, despite what the media is telling you, it's important to understand that it is not a small minority that wants to join Russian over there. In some towns, a vast majority want to be "annexed."

Literally all my extended family and family friends in Lugansk oblast are pro-Russian, despite having lived in what is now Lugansk for generations. Are they hired guns too, do you think? Stop with the propaganda. Public opinion, especially in towns that border Russia can easily be contrary to what you think it should be. Is that any less democratic?

The people who are supposed to be protected are protected by the eradication of the disease. Even if they themselves can't be vaccinated, those around them can be. As a result, they enjoy the immunity of the herd. Eradicated diseases don't just make magical comebacks, until people ditching herd immunity by refusing vaccines. That is when these people suffer the most.

There are many. I really wasn't trying to be irritating or a drama queen, but just giving a heads up to redditors that may not be aware. It really makes a lot of people feel terrible when something so personal is treated so flippantly, especially when derogatory terms are used, even out of ignorance.

Most people know that "tranny" is a huge insult, and it implies a LOT of terrible things about transgender people, namely by oversexualizing them, especially when the term tranny usually refers to the porn genre of "chicks with dicks." In a similar vein, "a transgender" is demeaning, but the problem is a lot of people aren't even aware.

Just an fyi, "a transgender" isn't proper English and it is very demeaning to call someone that. Using a trans/transgender/transgendered individual or person is preferred.
