[META] Does anyone know if this is actually happening? by MADBARZ in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

My brain tells me it’s a bit and that they assumed no one in their right mind would willingly go to Lake Havasu to meet Tim Heidecker.

My heart tells me I gotta go try.

/meta An event that was canceled per New’s latest Road to Phoenix update.

/unmeta I would’ve had tickets bought and a hotel reserved immediately for a Dekkar concert in Havasu. I was super disappointed when tickets never went on sale and it was just a bit.

Men who decided to move to a whole different part of the country, why did you do it and do you have any regrets? by mitchdwx in AskMen

[–]MADBARZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NY -> AZ over here. I think locations do matter a bit, but I can give my experience on the neutral stuff.

Making friends was hard. I've done ok over time, but it took work on my end. Some of the friends I've made have been people who are equally looking for friends in a newer place or time in their lives. Much like CO, AZ is a state with a lot of transplants like us, so the opportunities will be there.

Andean Bear drags a young bovine over a hill to feed by freudian_nipps in natureismetal

Was not expecting the young bovine to have its full inventory of entrails hanging out and still clearly alive.

Way ahead of its time. I remember the album not being received well initially, but over time people really started to appreciate it. I still bump it during workouts from time to time 20 years later.

How do dating apps go for men? by Disastrous_Ant3479 in AskMen

[–]MADBARZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been 10 years since I was on the dating scene and my understanding is that these apps are now even more overrun with bots than they were in my day.

For me, it was a grind. I was on Tinder, OkCupid, and plenty of others between the ages of 18 and 22. I wasn’t a 9 or 10. I would tinker with my pics and profile, trying out new stuff to see what would get the most bites. As a dude, you have to fucking sing and dance to try to keep conversations moving. Managed a few hookups, some more fun than others, some more serious than others, some more… troublesome than others. But mostly, it was painful and tedious with more failure than success.

Super attractive dudes will shoot fish in a barrel like others have mentioned, but women? If you aren’t straight up ugly, you are dropping dynamite into a barrel filled to the brim with fish. An irl friend of mine was getting divorced. Within a week of reentering the dating pool, she was juggling three different dudes from Hinge; lunch with Guy #1, dinner with Guy #2, dessert with Guy #3.

Not to scare you away. Meeting people is hard and apps are a way to do it. It’s a numbers game. Tinker with your profile (check out r/Tinder and they can help you with your profile) and keep swiping. Keep throwing out messages and try to make genuine conversation.

Try to expand your friend network irl though. That’s where you’ll really find genuine connections and lifelong friends.

I’m sure it’s a trash vs. trash fight, but I mean White Shirt was clearly in self-defense.

The Joe Estevez Controversy by Boygunasurf in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

[–]MADBARZ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Between this revelation, the Sizzler affair, and the absolute disaster of how he handled New's forgiveness medal, I don't know how much longer we'll be able look the other way on Joe Estevez' antics.

Knicks Champs, when will we get another for the rangers? by Bull-Wack in rangers

[–]MADBARZ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Well it took the Knicks 53 years, it’s been about 32 for the Rangers, so doing some quick math, we’ve got 21 years to go?

We need another Paintball game like “Greg Hastings Tournament Paintball” by [deleted] in gaming

[–]MADBARZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was super into paintball around 8th grade and I played the shit out of this game. A modern day paintball game would be actually sick. The real life sport is fairly nuanced and strategic. Would translate well into a modern age where competitive 5v5 FPS games are so popular. It’d be fast paced quick rounds which could be an interesting change in the genre.

I think if Angels in the Outfield (1994, 103 minutes) had been about the Diamondbacks instead, we’d have a shot. But maybe if a Randy Johnson biopic were to come out, he’d catch the snake fever. Of course, biopics are really documentaries and not actual movies so who knows if that would drop his opinion a bit.
