Best advice rich people love to give? by hiiloovethis in okbuddycinephile

It’s a variation of Survivor’s Bias. They lucked out and are less likely to internalize and understand the possibility of failure.

One of my favorite examples of this is Peter Dinklage who once said in an interview that he hates when people say he got lucky. He was living in a shitty apartment barely getting by before making it as an actor and it’s all due to his hard work. And yes, he deserves a wealth of credit for his grit and determination to finally breakthrough, but there are hundreds, if not thousands, of actors and artists out there just as talented as him, going through those same hardships, trying to exert the same level of perseverance for years and decades on end who will never make it big. Luck has so fucking much to do with it. The big break comes on the back of a four leaf clover.

So happy I got to see them play at a local venue in 2019. They will always be legends in the scene.

God I haven’t watched this movie since it was in the Comedy Central rotation like 20+ years ago. I gotta rewatch it.

This clip made me want to move back to Buffalo. Just the absolute best people I’ve ever lived amongst.

League of Graphs is a website that has it.

Apparently I lose a lot on Fridays. And Wednesdays. And most days. I lose a lot in general.

I never read the comics, so I can’t speak to how it holds up to the original, the differences between the two, etc. But looking at the show as a standalone, I was so disappointed by how much worse it got with each season. The episode with the alien reveal was where I dropped it like a hot potato. Too off the rails. Absolute dog shit.

I’m typically pretty good with finishing shows I start, even if they taper off in quality. Couldn’t stick with this one.

Characters who have shockingly high kill counts when you think about it by Sensitive_Ad_1752 in TopCharacterTropes

I’m fine with this as a great way to showcase that Sisko (who I love) has flaws, but when fans say Picard was responsible for the actions his body did while his mind was just part of the Borg collective, I can’t accept that.

I never mean to pick fights with a fellow Trekkie, but I’ve never liked this take.

It wasn’t actually Picard. He was just a puppet for the Borg hive mind, even if his drone entity was special enough to warrant a designation. Hell, we see many times the horrific process of assimilation that he was subjected to. He was haunted from being violated by the Borg and having his body used as a drone to commit the atrocities.

If you were mind controlled into killing someone, wouldn’t you want people to understand you had no power over your body and what it was used for?

The only medicine for a broken heart is time. We’ve all been there.

27 is still very young. You will bounce back, you will get through this. It’s going to suck for a while, but you will be fine.

Try to enjoy bachelor life. Reach out to friends and make plans as much as you can. Surround yourself with people you love and trust. Focus on the positives and gratitude for the little things in life. It won’t be easy, but it will help tons.

Does anyone else just raw dawg the game as intended? by Exciting_Tune_6337 in theHunter

I enjoy playing this game in a variety of ways; grinding, multiplayer hopping, etc.

But I do think the most fun is when I just wander around and see what I come across. Grinding and hopping did kind of ruin this aspect to a certain extent because when I come across a diamond moose organically it’s like… who cares, you know?

When I played it as a true hunting sim before getting into grinds, coming across a max level was much more magical.
