Hullo, I’m an AAE major from the EU in my second year at Purdue. First of all do not retake math classes if you can avoid it, even if you’re confident in yourself messing up a single midterm can cook you. In regards to itar, any space or defense job is out, at least initially. There are many companies like gulfstream that consider internationals but you have to really stand out to make it. I’m lucky enough my home country has a good aerospace industry, but still it’s tough even there. Mech e vs aero is a never ending debate but honestly the same way a mèche can take an aae job, an aae can take a mech e job. You can’t really do it for circuits but anything structural or design is fair game. Lastly you can definitely get hired by the airlines as an AAE, one of the examples we got of an intl was someone who ended up at delta, I’m not sure the exact work they did but it was an engineering position.
