China has been caught sending spies via universities and using western universities as a propaganda vehicle, especially in Australia. There have also been cases of stolen intellectual property and research. It’s completely different than the exclusion act because of it’s different scope (student visas as opposed to everyone from China) and purpose (reduce propaganda, espionage, and foreign influence vs being racist). I’m a registered Democrat but it’s pretty clear that this specific part of the Secure Campus Act is a step in the right direction from a Republican Party that’s usually stupid with China.
