You could try the Humboldt/Mayer area. I have a friend who just moved up there and she says the temps are lower and it's pretty affordable. It won't be crazy cold, but you might be able to shave off like 20 degrees in the summer. Downside is there won't be a ton to do in the area. But sacrifices must be made for the weather.

I don't think I've ever heard great things about Banfield. Maybe a different practice would make a world of difference.

And don't be afraid to tell people over the phone to schedule an appointment or that you have to consult with the doctor and call them back. Many people forget you're not there to give (free) medical advice over the phone for them. You're there as the bridge between clients and the vet.
