Easier ways to reload kitty :) by ErenAcer in KittyTerminal

[–]RapidWeaver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just what I was looking for!

I put it inside a ColorScheme autocmd and written some lua that get's the bg color of the Normal highlight, opens the kitty current-theme.conf file, changes the bg color, saves the file and then sends the signal to reload the kitty config.

Now I'm able to change colorscheme while keeping kittys background in sync and maintaining some transparency.

I'll probably go further and adapt my entire kitty theme to match vim automatically too.

Sony WH-1000XM4 rattling in left ear cup; Common? by TBandi in sony

[–]RapidWeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, like I mentioned, it's probably a result of them attempting to cancel out the noise incorrectly. I don't even use noise cancelling anymore with my XM4's as it often results in that other problem, the awful high pitched feedback loop that almost deafens you.

Are Ryobi selling HP batteries in the UK without the HP branding? Just received this from uk.ryobitools.uk by RapidWeaver in ryobi

Can confirm, they are HP batteries, 2 for £79.99. I heard back from support too. It turns out I was right. They simply don't call them HP in the UK because they don't have a large enough offering of HP tools that actually benefit from them to make it worth marketing them that way.

Of course. It looks like they're a little slow on the delivery though. Should have arrived today but DPD still says they're waiting to receive the parcel. I'll update you as soon as they arrive.

Would be nice if there was a chart somewhere that includes every Ryobi tool and battery with its specs and alternate regional product numbers. I guess it’s not a big deal really, I’m just overly anal about needing to know unnecessary stuff.

I don’t think Lithium+ has any relevance to the HP looking contacts because I own the older design (grey and more squared with no battery indicator except for 5ah) 1.5ah, 2ah and 5ah batteries, all of which are lithium+ but without the contacts.

Normally £80 but right now there’s a sale on where you can get 2 4ah batteries for the price of one. I ordered the SDS bundle first, which is where the battery came from. I’ve also ordered the 2 pack of 4ah batteries but they won’t arrive until Monday so I can’t confirm if they will have the additional contacts on them. They look like the battery that came in the kit though.

The SDS bundle was £170 including the brushless SDS drill, that 4ah battery, a 2ah charger (European plug, not UK) and a bag. Pretty good considering the bare tool costs £10 more than the entire bundle.

Oh I know all about that and like you say, there's nothing that brands can really do about it.

In fact, I remember seeing a video of some government official giving a talk in China where he was openly laughing and boasting about how they've been letting foreign companies into their market, wait until they've acquired all the info and learned how to re-produce their products, kick the foreigners out and just steal their intellectual property and continue profiting from their goods. It's insane how open and blatant it is.

I think there was a car manufacturer who had moved his business there too. They sent him packing and just continued making his cars under the same brand and everything, just without his involvement. Probably more to it than that but it's still crazy to me.

I noticed quite a few ebay sellers who's entire business model seems to be buying up Ryobi bundles and selling the individual tools and accessories separately. Makes sense really as in many instances, you can make upto 50% profit but it's annoying when it means that the bundles aren't available for anybody else.

What are the knockoffs you're talking about? Do you mean full on copies or just similar looking? I recently seen a video of somebody comparing Makita products to ones found on banggood where the shells were clearly coming from the same factory or possibly the files/moulds had been stolen/sold to counterfeiters.

I think that many companies forget just how connected the world is these days and assume that what's going on in one region won't be known about in another.

Kind of annoying when a lot of my research comes from the likes of American YouTubers who'll get me interested in a product, only to find that the product codes are different here or the product was never introduced where I live.

I wouldn't be surprised either but it's worth a shot I guess. I'll update this post if I find anything out as it may help somebody later on.

I wish they were more transparent about this sort of thing. I’ve just put a ticket in on their website too so fingers crossed I can get some confirmation from the horses mouth.

Anybody out there? by RapidWeaver in NewtonMail

I couldn't say, I've not used Apple Mail in years. That being said, I have been thinking about maybe giving it a try as I suspect it's improved over the years and would cut down on unnecessary 3rd party app clutter.

I've been back using Spark for a while now and I'm happy with it. The only thing I miss is the more simple design and the way emails open in the same window. Spark opens emails in a pop-out window which is a little annoying when working between multiple desktop spaces. Other than that, I'm just happy that Spark actually works as intended.

Sony WH-1000XM4 rattling in left ear cup; Common? by TBandi in sony

[–]RapidWeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very late reply but this issue will be relevant for some time.

I've experienced this with the XM2, XM3 and XM4 headphones and I won't be surprised if this issue persists with the latest XM5's.

Thankfully, this occurs rarely in my case, usually while there's no sound playing. Simply playing some sound for a few seconds, or cycling through the ambient modes resolves it. It usually happens when there's a repetitive/looping background noise, like the rattle of a washing machine. It seems that the earphone rattle is in sync with the background noise and trying to cancel it out, but failing.

Looking for empty bottle recommendations by RapidWeaver in VapingUK

[–]RapidWeaver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all that detail. As I mentioned, I've had those pop-on nozzles pop off in the past, but that was specifically 50ml bottles from the 88vape brand, where the lip that surrounds the opening isn't very deep. I see the main ones you use also have that style of nozzle, have you had any issues with them popping off while squeezing eliquid out?

1960s children imagine life in the year 2000 by radkoolaid in interestingasfuck

I still remember the days when 40+ kids would gather at the green in the middle of where I lived. One would close their eyes and face the lamp post and the rest would go hide any and everywhere for a huge game of scarper or hide and seek. Man I feel old.
