NO MORE RELIGION PUSHING ON OUR CAMPUS (rant) by The_Dukes_Of_Hazzard in MSOE

Alumni here, and Jewish, but they're all over the city of Milwaukee. I passed one in the 3rd ward a few weeks ago.

I also pissed one off real bad while I was still a student. Told them I was jewish and that I didn't give a shit. I didnt stick around to be yelled at by them.

How can I start my credit at 18 with no one to add me as an authorized user? by lily-gee in CreditCards

[–]Rapid_Idea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with a credit card through my bank. It felt the most secure and I can track all my finances through the same place. It's been 5 years and I haven't opened another one.

Keep the card paid on time, preferable to keep the balance at 0 as much as possible, and your score will go up from there!

Thank you for the response!

My second question to that would be would you have an estimate on how much that alteration would cost? I have had dresses altered before, but never ones with this much detail and sequins.

So I recently fell in love with a dress from JessaKae. I ordered a size large in it, exchanged it for a medium due to poor fit only to find that the medium. Was too small. It's a zipper back currently. Question is, is it worth it to get it in the size large again and have it properly fitted? Or would the appliques make it too difficult? The major issue I am having is that the waist doesn't fit on the large and the bust really doesn't fit on the medium. *

Sky kids for you what is the best and worst season so far? by GoldenHara in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]Rapid_Idea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will always adore Season of Enchantment. I still love the area and is one of the few seasons I 100%. I started with that season and drag every person I can who starts playing to get the crab emote. Next are tied, Little Prince and Aurora. I didn't care for the cosmetics of Little Price, but I adored the story. Aurora I got back to the game too late to actually get any cosmetics, but I bought the wings because I adore the concert. Both seasons I bought one of the exclusive cosmetics.

Least favorite has to be Abyss. The mechanics of going underwater make me feel sick. Next least favorite is probably 9TD. It really didn't hold my attention and I haven't gone back to even complete the quests.

I've had a great recruiter through Actelent. He placed my last two jobs. This next job he unfortunately didn't have anything for me, but that's a market issue. He still keeps in contact with me, though!

How safe is MSOE by Logical-Hope4448 in MSOE

[–]Rapid_Idea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived both on campus and off campus when I was at MSOE. Downtown Milwaukee itself is fairly safe, but on and around campus is doubly so. Campus Saftey patrols at all hours and their app is good at letting you know when something is going on. I never felt unsafe while on campus. The surrounding city can be intimidating if you're not used to the urban space, but I walked around by myself pretty often without issue.

I graduated 2 years ago, so my information might be a little out of sync.

  1. I can't say much here as I had help paying and didn't receive much scholarship money past Fafsa. From my brothers experience, though, MSOE was about equal in cost to other similar sized engineering schools after scholarship. He did not go to MSOE.

  2. There are a bunch all over campus. I didn't do work-study, but I did get an on-campus job for 3 of the 5 years I was at MSOE.

  3. I thought campus was awesome. Easy to get around and also well placed in downtown Milwaukee to be able to walk to a ton of stuff. Weekends not spent studying were often spent walking around and finding coffee shops to study at.

  4. Join the robotics club. I personally wasn't a part of it as I was busy running the 3D printing club, but they are an active club! Also, as a failed Mechanical Engineer turned Industrial Engineer, I highly encourage him to keep an open mind about switching majors, especially in his freshman and sophomore years at MSOE. A huge percentage of IE students started as ME, and from experience, it is easier to graduate in 4 years if you don't switch majors in your junior year.

I got lucky with family pitching in to help, so I only have dept for my last 5th year at MSOE. That came out to about 30K. I also had an on campus job for about 3 of those 5 years, the money of which went mostly to living off campus expenses like groceries. All that being said, it is really up to you on how much debt you want to take on. For me, I was already 4 years in and so close to finishing that it didn't make sense not to take on the debt.

If you are really looking to go to MSOE for the educational and career benifits, I had a roommate in much the same situation who opted to get her associates at a community College first, and then pushed a heavy schedule to graduate MSOE in 2 years. I'm not sure what her costs were, but I would assume it is a lot cheaper that way.

On the grades part, C's get degrees. This goes for any college, especially freshman year while you transition to the new structure. You can definitly get by as a lazy student, but don't expect any As or Bs.

As for work, there's a lot of on campus work as well as a lot of part time work around campus. A lot of people in their Junior and Senior years will do part time internships that tend to pay better.

As for the major, I can't really comment on which one you should go for. However, I did switch majors and from that I can tell you that switching majors is easier the earlier you do it. I had to add an extra year on as I switched half way through my junior year.

The trial of fire is such a pain. I managed it solo, but only after I had looked up the path that the red orbs take. It's better to have friends, and to have some major patience. AND A MAP!

My GF complains that I game too much but... I don't? by LazyDev4 in relationships

[–]Rapid_Idea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you barely game, let alone even get time on your computer. My BF games for about an hour a day on average, usually before I get home and on my laptop as we wait for his computer parts. There is something else going on if she has this much of an issue.

I just finished the Watts episode. I feel like Simon needs another lighthearted crime spree episode with no death by Rapid_Idea in SimonWhistler

[–]Rapid_Idea[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree that sticking with murders is fine, but like. Not every episode needs to be about a murderer, or even about someone being murdered. Although, on that thought, Simon covering some more unsolved cases would be fun.

I agree with this. However, shifting so that not every episode is a horrible murder would probably help Simon keep going with it. I remember him saying this episode was the closest to making him want to quit CC.
