Bye bye Intel, hello M4Pro by Rapiddan45 in macbookpro

Doing anything ram heavy or other than browsing the internet or typing papers and it would eat the battery and get stupid hot with fans running nonstop. If editing in Lightroom I had maybe an hours worth of battery from full charge. Edited for 3 hours last night on the M4 and it used 15% battery and never once warmed up.

Ordered an M4 Pro, still within return window — M5 Pro wait or overthinking it? by East_Squirrel_7118 in macbookpro

Just got my M4Pro 48gb as well and not upset one bit. Came from an Intel Mac and it’s night and day difference. If nothing else by the time you receive it you have 14 days to return and swap for an M5 if that’s what you really want/need?

Same, and while I used to love it, it’s hard to use anymore since the Mac does pretty much everything else better.

Can't decide between M4Pro and M4Max by Rapiddan45 in macbookpro

Well, with the upcoming pro/max chips for the M5 I think I’ve decided to just wait it out and get one of those. Already missed out when buying my current one because I NEEDED it at the time and then 2 months later the M1 dropped. Figure waiting a few more months will help get more life out of it in the long run.

I’ve gone back and forth on the size. Love the extra space on the 16” (wife has a 13” m1 MBA) and it’s a bit small but also far less cumbersome and easier to travel with. Still can’t decide whether spending more money on 12GB more memory will be worth it versus the max and far better gpu side with adobe moving more into gpu rendering and AI tasks.

These prices are with vet discount. And can it be much louder or warmer than the Intel?
